Activision confirmed a sequel is in the works that will use the same board peripheral, and it's due out this year. They say that since the hardware is complete they can focus on the software this time. I haven't actually played the game, but from watching the videos the control seemed totally broken. Who knows if software can fix everything. I'm also interested in seeing how they plan on getting people to forget the first game and give this one a shot. I was looking at achievement numbers the other day and only 70 people on Giant Bomb had played the game. Meanwhile, Mass Effect had 8,000 and was just released.

Tony Hawk: RIDE
Game » consists of 3 releases. Released Nov 17, 2009
The tenth game in the Tony Hawk series, RIDE featured the use of a newly conceived skateboard peripheral in an attempt, by Activision, to reboot the series.
Sequel confirmed
I'm only interested because that means there's a slight possibility that we'll get another awesome video of Jeff skate-boarding around the world.
Not surprised. I knew this was coming after Tony Hawk himself that the sequel was already 'better' than the first. I doubt he's right, though. Kinda hard to improve something when the hardware itself is broken.
So let me see if I understand this. Tony Hawk pimps the hell out of RIDE at events like E3. Activision release videos of Tony Hawk playing the game with hip skaters who say the game is awesome. Tony Hawk continues to say the game is awesome. Activision drop the game onto shelves like white-hot dogshit and appear like they couldn't care less. Tony Hawk bitches and moans at the horrible reviews because apparently everybody had convinced themselves that it would suck before they played it.
And now there's a sequel and Tony Hawk is saying it's 'better'.
