Tower of Guns is a first person arena style single player shooter. The game also includes some roguelike elements in the form of randomized rooms, pick ups, secrets, and items. The player makes their way through different rooms killing enemies and turrets and dodging projectiles to progress to the next floor.

The basic gameplay loop of Tower of Guns is very simple, shoot open a door, enter a room, kill as many turrets and enemies as possible, and find the door out, all while dodging the multitude of giant projectiles that are being shot at you. You take on these massive bullet shooting monstrosities with a single weapon you choose from the beginning and upgrade throughout. Each weapon has 5 levels and you can pick up weapon mods from boss drops or stores. Weapons are upgraded by picking up the blue crystals that enemies drop after death that serve as weapon XP. However, if you are hit, your weapon can loose XP and even drop down levels. Coins are used to purchase items from store pods that are appear randomly in the world and sometimes in hidden secret areas.

Tower of Guns lets you choose from 10 different guns to fight through the titular tower.

Peas-n-Carrots Pistol

"Standard issue. Choose a better gun." This weapon is slow shooting pistol that does low damage especially before being upgraded. It is one of two weapons that are unlocked at the beginning of the game.

Portable Pizza Thrower

"Loaded with sawblades. Not pizza." This weapon shoots out sawblades that bounce off of surfaces. This is the second weapon that is unlocked at the beginning of the game.
