The first two games released by Trilobyte were The 7th Guest and the sequel The 11th Hour. Both featured significant amounts of FMV, hence the games helped establish the CD-ROM as a media format for games. The follow up games departed from the trademark design and although Clandestiny is a puzzle / advetnure hybrid game at its core, it uses cartoon graphics instead of full motion video cutscenes or in-game elements. Clandestiny and several other titles that followed did not find the same success and buyers as the first two games did. Despite the company being defunct as a game studio, the website is still active and hosts patches to the games, although it is not maintained by the founders of Trilobyte themselves.
Several games had been in development at the time Trilobyte shut down, including a sequel to the 7th Guest and another game of the franchise entitled The 13th Hour, as well other games of various genres.
