Twisted Metal 3
With the success of Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2, I was excited for Twisted Metal 3. What I didn't know is that a new studio called 989 Studios had taken over the franchise after SingleTrac who created the first two game were bought by GT Interactive thus ending their partnership with Sony. Twisted Metal's story is simple, every year a contest is held where the winner gets his/her wish granted by Calypso. You choose a character who drives a car and you go though different cities destroying anyone that gets in your path and causing mayhem along the way. You have machine guns mounted to the cars and you can get powerups like missiles, TNT, homing missiles, rocket missiles, and health powerups. The returning characters from Twisted Metal 1 and 2 are Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grim, Darkside, Hammerhead, Outlaw, Minion, Roadkill, Thumper, Spectre, and Axel. Joined by new characters like Auger, Club Kid, Firestarter. I think my main problem with Twisted Metal 3 is that it was build from the ground up. Meaning a brand new engine that makes the cars feel like the physics in the game are floatly. It's hard to explain but the controls don't feel as tight as they did in Twisted Metal 2. The levels are pretty small though but I will give one thing that I love about this game and it's the killer soundtrack by Rob Zombie, amd Pitchshifter. It really fits the game well and I remember loving listening to Microwave by Pitchshifter and Superbeast by Rob Zombie. Overall I think the game is just terrible, it controls like garbage and even I wouldn't want to revisit this game now. Play the first two Twisted Metal games instead of this.
