    Undyne is a major character in Undertale. She is a monster living in the Underground who also serves as the captain of King Asgore's elite Royal Guard, a lofty position Undyne achieved through a combination of intense training and sheer determination. As the Royal Guard captain, Undyne assumes personal responsibility not only for the safety of Asgore and his subjects, but also for the swift execution of any humans who appear in the Underground. Undyne fervently believes in Asgore's plan to harvest human souls and destroy the magical barrier imprisoning her kind.
