A Blizzard of Dota 2 Activity

Been having a blast with LoL (Monkey King!), but I am looking forward to see what the Valve level of polish will bring to this DotA style game.

This trailer is sort of weak... not even close to as good as the LoL Season One trailer.

Blizzard should sue Valve because Blizzard have invented DotA and have the patent for that creative license so no one else can make that game only Blizzard and Valve are taking Blizzard's money from them like robbers take money from a bank without working for it like the rest of us so if Valve continue to do this we will have no more creative games from Blizzard because Valve have stolen their idea and not given any of the money to Blizzard to make a new idea for a new game and even if they make a new game then Valve will steal the idea and make New Idea 2 and the cycle will repeat itself until eventually Valve will have all the money and Blizzard will have no money and I wouldn't be surprised if Valve make World of Halflife Craft and it is the same as World of Warcraft with all the ideas that Blizzard already invented and have patent pending creative license over because obviously this trailer is showing us that they are stealing the art style as well as the game they didn't even make their own art style for the characters and just look like Warcraft characters only more round and that's the only difference even the spells look the same to me and I have seen many Warcraft videos and the fire effects are the exact same as in this video I think they even use the same software to create them that Blizzard uses so I think the next thing Valve will do is just steal Blizzard's employees and Valve will be the one's who have all the talent and not Blizzard so I think this is unfair and that's why we should boycott this with an online petition thank you.

Im really not into the Dota gameplay, I've tried so hard, but to no avail

ROFL, I love this guy.  Reminds me of Uwe Boll. I think you should totally boycott Dota 2, and don't forget to invite your friends too.

I know it's important to not keep the sequels familiar, but... damn it, all characters look far too similar to their Warcraft 3 modeled counterparts. Yeah... Blizzard won't like this at all.

I have to admit, they seem to have done a DECENT job changing the art a bit to avoid stealing the Warcraft art directly.

So what you are saying is that id software created counter-stike? id created the quake engine, valve created half-life on the quake engine, someone created a mod for half-life, so the natural conclusion in your wicked mind is, id software created counter-strike.

I am saying that bald men are faced with persecution every day and no one says anything about it just look at who the most famous actors are and which men are TV presenters or male models they are always people with nice thick hair and for the few exceptions that don't have hair they are usually just the tough guy because having no hair is perceived as being tough like Jason Statham or Bruce Willis or Vin Diesel or Dwayne Johnson and this is just the celebrity side of things whereas in the real world bald men have doors closed in their face day in day out which is discrimination that goes unnoticed and maybe you don't know this but if two men of equal credentials go for an interview and both perform equally well but one of them has hair and the other is bald then guess what the man with the hair will get the job and also get the girl of course because bald men are perceived as somewhat less attractive than men with a great head of thick luscious hair like Novak Djockovic or the werewolf guy from the Twilight movies so this is something that needs to be talked about and the bald men of the world need to know that they are equal to the hairy head men because if all humans were bald then I bet many of the current bald men would actually be at much more of an advantage than they currently are in this bald discrimination world because so many people only look good because they depend on their hair to hide their misshaped head from public viewing and also to add definition to their otherwise bland face oh and by the way Justin Bieber lost 80000 twitter followers when he pulled his bald stunt on that talk show with the host who had a thick head of hair so I rest my full proof case because we are done here.

Blizzard didn't create Defense of the Ancients, but neither did Valve. Three guys are really are responsible for the creation of the the original DotA mod, and Valve only hired one of them (IceFrog). How exactly do they have any claim to the name? Calling it Dota 2 just seems a little sleazy to me. It may not be illegal, but just because something isn't illegal doesn't mean that it isn't sleazy. If Valve wants to be the good corporate citizen that they want people to believe they are, then they really should change the name of this game.

Also, your argument makes no sense regardless. Plus, Blizzard didn't invent DOTA, a modder did. They had no hand in developing that game or how that mode changed over the years. As such I really don't think they hold any rights to it. The original modders probably should do. And, while Valve has hired one of them, it still feels a bit weird.

No reason to call for a boycott. If Valve can make a good game with a gametype that Blizzard hasn't touched in years, then so be it. Sure, the naming and art style may hardly be subtle but games have been stealing elements from each other for years. No big deal. Valve and Blizzard are the last bastions of PC gaming so I doubt they would be in the business of taking each other down - especially as they cater to different markets in terms of genres (Name a Blizzard FPS or a Valve RPG/MMO for example).

That's not funny Ryan, the DotA community asked Blizzard for years to make DotA into its own game.  Blizzard responded with an interview in GameInformer that the Starcraft 2 Editor will allow people to make that famous WC3 mod with new engine.  When suddenly Valve spends the money to invest into making DotA its own game, Blizzard responds with Left 2 Die mod for SC2 and "Blizzards DotA".  B-DotA is still not out and is planned for the SC2 expansion.  If it fucking is Blizzards game, why didn't they make it before?  Because they didn't give a flying fuck that's what!

What I like about Valve trailers is that most of the time, they are using a higher-level of what usually is the in-game graphics of their games.  Sure I don't expect crazy facial quality and animation of everything with a face, but I feel like this will be an amazing game to look at, not just play.  Thank god source is scalable too so that the masses can jump in without too much hassle.

I was about to say that I was expecting some awesome CGI, then I remembered this is Valve, not Blizzard... Guess the look is actually pretty Valve-ish with the TF2 style

So they finally put Gabe Newell in a video game.

Hmm interesting, never been very keen on Dota or similar games so will be interested to see how Valve could make it appealing. Found communities like League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth to be rather hostile to new players.

Are you guys sure you got the right version of the trailer? The framerate's all crap and you're missing like the first 10 or 15 seconds.

That's gotta be one of the sloppier CG movies I've seen in quite some time. Look at the non-hero textures and models, really bland and boring.
