A Closer Look at Dust 514

@Spoonman671: Its also way more story than you'll see playing eve or dust. While there was a resurgence of live events ingame last year, they laid those people off last winter.

I really hope they pull this off. Love the idea of playing one game that will effect another. There's just two problems that prevent this from really taking off:

No PC port

No Xbox port

I doubt there's half as many players on the PS3 that would play a contract shooter as on the Xbox. Xbox players are far more competitive (for better or worse) than PS players (and I've seen it playing MW2, Blops, BF3 and MW3 on both consoles). Plus the PC crowd would be able to better use forum and social media to organize themselves (something they already do more often and better than several console titles). I understand the PS3 has the cell processor, but it's really not that much more powerful than the 360 and cowers behind PC builds. I just really don't understand why they're going exclusively with a platform that is not known for it's competitive shooter environment.

@Tren_Frost: The game won't be on the Xbox because of Microsoft's policies -- that's the only reason. As for not being on PC, there are non-business related reasons surrounding what they want for product, but they haven't completely ruled out bringing it to the PC in the future, they just have no current plans to.

its only a ps3 exclusive because Microsoft doesn't allow cross platform integration. eve players can affect dust players, declare war, send tank, ships etc . xbox doesnt allow that. u can call in a orbital bombardment from eve players!!

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe CCP has stated that DUST 514 will support mouse and keyboard on the PS3.

I will pick this up. Now I have a less intimidating way to get into EVE (and those space shots look sweet!)

@rebgav: If it makes you feel any better, I bought a PS3 at the beginning of the generation and this is likely to be the first game I actually play more than an hour of with it. On the plus side, it's been a perfectly competent Blu-ray player!

Whenever I see a trailer for EVE, I want to play EVE.

When I actually play EVE, I don't want to play EVE.

There are 514 grains of dust.

@Cronus42: I played the trial and put 30 hours in. I really liked it; I just need to finish my single player games before I subscribe.

Why am I watching this again? It's just making me want to play EVE Online and I don't have the time for that. But...my battleship...NO! I don't have the time!
