It was. Anyone who says the original games weren't sharp should try playing them again. Same dumbing down happened with Sam & Max.

@Insectecutor: I played the first three games again in anticipation of Tales, and while Secret and Curse were both hilarious, I didn't find MI2 to be all that funny. Different styles of humor perhaps. Anyway, Chapter 1 of Tales made me laugh as frequently as Secret and Curse did. I strongly disagree that there's been any kind of dumbing down.
