Exactly what I thought of:

@Daiphyer: Based on the resources, both human and equipment, running and gunning the way we did made the most sense. Did we need a stedi-cam? No, and it's probably the least used shot on most of the scenes, but we had it and how could you say no to that. The other two camera's main functions were capturing quality sound from 4 wireless packs (2 per camera). Not only did we not have the luxury of a sound person, we were able to get all the coverage in only a few reads of each scene, hence the utility for two cameras. Was there room for better planning? Certainly, but that only gets you so far when cameras start rolling and your trying to shoot five different video skits in 3 days.

@abauman: I can not express the importance of multi-cam shooting in fast shoot scenareos. As someone that works on higher budget shows, I can tell you almost every television series these days is shot multi-cam. There's no way to get the coverage you need with the shooting schedule that most television shows have (especially one hour dramas). For example: 24 almost always shot at least 2 cam scenes, one shoulder-cam getting tight shots, the other shooting wide. This is important to keep the performances fresh as well, some actors get stale after 4 takes, especially when you're shooting 5-8 scenes a day.

If you're shooting a feature, where you have the luxury of time and money, you may not shoot multi-cam as frequently, but as far as a tight shooting sched goes, you guys did it the same as the multi-million dollar tv shows. Having watched most of what you guys do, it blows my mind what you're capable of on a limited budget, and the game of the year stuff really showed what you guys can do both in production quality and the quality of great comedic writing. Keep it up, love it.

But what if Alexis was in the cop uniform and Ryan was in a dress?

How much do those cameras cost? I want to guess around 3 thousand minimum.

I love that Vinny is the only one who feels like he's running a legitimate production. Everyone else is just showing up and doing what he says.

I've been taking Film and Screen courses this year and all I can think is this is not how you run an efficient production. They likely made it much harder than it had to be. Lucky they had someone who seems like they actually have experience...
