The graphics are OK, but they're not really something only PS4/Xbone could do. A native Vita version would be the ideal way to play for me. That, or in POG form.

Holds up pretty well for a PSP game. It looks like a lot of the assets were re-done, or the PSP is a lot smoother than I remember it being.

They're giving the game more care than a simple up-port. This is one of Square Enix's earliest PS4/Xbox One games, so it makes sense that they'd use it as a test bed for graphics (Nintendo did something similar with Wind Waker HD). The gameplay and balance are also getting tinkered with, as the original PSP game had only one difficulty and was said to be too hard for a lot of people.

I played about 5 minutes of that Psp game from a demo on the Japanese psn. My Psp was busted at the time and the stick caused the character to run backwards....so that's my only memory of this game. Looking forward to actually playing it now.

Oh crap! The to new FF trailers have been interesting in different ways, but the main question I come away with is this: How come this combat looks so fast and cool when FFXV looked so slow in its new trailer?

They're different combat systems. Some have a naturally faster pace than others.

This was a PSP game in Japan, so I wonder if the PS4 version will be $20 or so. I'd try it for that price, especially if it's on PSN.

"A Playable Demo Voucher" That's the key word there, VOUCHER for the FFXV demo. So don't get your hopes up you're going to be playing FFXV in March.

Where does Type 0 fit in with other FF games? Or is it kind of it's own thing?

If you liked the PSP game this remaster is probably worth owning.

Because that's the direction your tastes go. For others, FFXV looks more appealing than Type-0.

Good to see this finally coming to North America I heard decent things about the PSP version. It looks look an evolution of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's gameplay which I enjoyed.

Oh wow, this looks a LOT better than the PSP version. I mean, fucking of course it would, but I was looking at the God Eater 2 PS4 trailer a couple days ago, and that looks marginally better than its handheld counterpart. Granted that's a Vita game, not a PSP game. Still, even just looking at it as a PS4 game, God Eater 2 doesn't look that great. This looks pretty darn good though.

Both look like fun though. What a fucking weird thing to be looking forward to playing PSP/Vita games on a PS4. With any luck they'll put out an updated Dissidia on consoles too.

Funny how the side games to the whole FF13 Fabula Nova Crystallis thing (Agito and Versus) always looked so much more interesting than the main game.

A PS4 port of a PSP game is alarming to me.

More perplexing to me is them porting regular DS games to PC. FF4, the DS version, hit the steam store today, for reasons.

Given that comparison shot at the beginning, seems as though this HD port goes beyond just upping the resolution and anti-aliasing. Good on you Square.

The Magical Academy of which all of the playable cast are students in the game is meant to evoke a Japanese school so the uniforms are based upon that.

Finally a pack in demo that actually makes sense.

@redhotchilimist: Because the new 15 trailer is most likely allot earlier in the game where you have less moves and magic. Look at the other trailers for bigger pace and more pew-pew. Also, 15 has allot more emphesis on animation, party interation and fluid combat where as this is allot more snappy and spammy (closer to Crisis core)

Based on the ridiculously oversized UI, that Steam release is probably based more on the iOS port that they did.

As someone who dumped a dozen or so hours into the PSP version, I can attest to its difficulty. Very strategic AND very grindy. Super fun though. Really looking forward to the HD update. And yes, the graphics look completely redone. This is no upscale.

Why isn't this coming to Vita? Feels like such a missed opportunity. :-/

I saw one or two characters in there that remind of other Final Fantasy characters, most notably XII and XIII. Those... these are original characters, right?

Final Fantasy is by far and away the most used brand in video games. I think Mario is 2nd.

This is like the most HDest of HD ports I have ever seen... look at all those shaders, look at all those frames. I imported a japanese PSP version back in the day.. but never really played it much.. it was pretty fun though, so looking forward to this.... and also... FF15 demo... yeah I'm down.

If it receives good on its release, then yes Square, I'll buy it.
