Capcom Figures it's About Time You Bought Resident Evil 4 Again

Already bought the GC, Wii, 360 and PS3 version of this, so I don't feel the need to dive in again, though I will admit that the idea of having it 60fps would be kinda lovely.

That said, I find it kinda gross that they didn't address the PCs original issues, rather than just repackaging and reselling what v1 should have been in the first place.

And the Capcom train keeps on going.

As long as it doesn't control like total garbage like the recent console releases. Left stick to aim? Fuck you Japan circa 2004. Theoretically, mouse aiming should fix that, right?

Who am I kidding? We all know it'll feel like a total mess, just like every other version of this game... except for maybe the Wii version, ironically.

This should have been the 2007 game! Not the crap they released.

Actually, I bought the Wii version in hopes it would alleviate the control issues which kept me from enjoying or at least being able to finish the game, but the Wii controls provide their own set of quirks and issues.

I suppose it's probably just me, though.

@andrewb: Ah, that's a shame. I actually never spent time with the Wii version. I just assumed it would bypass the issues since you could just aim with the wiimote, while still retaining analog movement on the nunchuck.

I love this game so much that I'm happy to keep buying it. I played it on my gamecube so much that my brother and I were doing knife-only speed-runs....

More re-releases! Cover everything with re-releases! There's infinite money in the same games!

@mrklorox: For my money, the Wii version is the best version. I think the controls make it one of the few Wii games to properly justify the use of the remote. With a bit of practise you can be an absolute crackshot. As a result, it makes the game a lot easier than it probably should be, but it's super satisfying.

If you have a Wii and a few pounds / dollars / euros spare (I picked it up second hand for next to nothing), it's worth taking a look at. The controls are a total game changer.

I remember the rage I felt after buying the boxed PC version how ever many years back on release day. It was actually not until a few years after that I played RE4 for the first time using that god awful port. It was awesome, but only because modders fixed the major issues I had with it. Those were the graphics, no controller support and having xbox controls displayed on screen instead of keys. Come to think of it, I think RE4 was the first incredibly bad port that I can recall buying.

Yeah I am in agreement with you, I don't need to buy this game again for the 5th time, GC, PS2, Wii, Xbox live, to know that I really liked it all those years ago.

I bet mouse control makes this game trivial.

Didn't the 2007 version technically support HD resolutions, but the cutscenes were really low res?

Gonna hold out for Resident Evil 4K. Think they announced it at CES.

I think the xbox360, ps3 versions should have gotten the redone graphics at the time, but at least they finally decided to put in the work.

If there is a game to own to many copies of this is the one for me. I'm sure it'll eventually come on the new systems but when steam discounts this I'm going to be all over it.

The woods chapter visually still blows me away. Such great atmosphere, and just the right amount of helplessness. The level is what should have been the inspiration for RE6 not the L4D games.

The GC version still looks pimp, not sure I need this in HD at all.

I bought this on the Xbox 360 because I never finished it on the GCN but still didn't finish it :-/ Maybe one day.

It's the audio that needs an overhaul more than the textures.. it sounds as low quality as ever in that trailer.

Totally agree. Overall, I found the wiimote/nunchuck combo quite grating in most Wii games, felt like a chore with little reward. RE4 played really well with them though, enjoyed it more than the GC/PS2 versions I'd played to completion previously.

I'll buy it again but I want the RE1 GameCube remake brought over to PC and also to PSN.

I hear its a great game (never played it) but this is HD? Maybe rescan the textures, just a little? This looks like a straight up emulator with no filtering on.

I bought the Wii version of this (my first RE game actually) years ago and just never got around to finishing it. I simply don't really play the Wii anymore and spend more time with my PC and 3DS. Maybe I'll get this version and play it the whole way through this time.

this really was the last, great RE game they've released but, as a lot of others have said here, im not paying for it yet again.

i would pay for an updated version of the RE remake that came out for the GC, though. that game was amazing.

Capcom is all like, "We've run out of great ideas for games, but remember this one? This one was pretty great, huh? Remember? We figured we'd remind you of it every year by re-releasing it."

I got it running on Windows 7. Only problem I had was the static backgrounds looked like trash at higher resolutions. Also there were plenty of mods for RE4's original PC release that made it look better than this "Ultimate HD Edition". I still prefer the Wii version though.

Oh for godsakes, Capcom. Your business model should not be to sell the exact same games over and over and over year in year out until all of the people stop buying. If this is the best you can offer, maybe time to liquidate all intellectual property and close up shop, call it a good run. -____-

This is still such an incredible game, and I'll happily buy it again for a third time.
