So when he mentions panzer general is he saying that civ V will be a one unit per hex game or am I reading too far into it?  It would definitely be interesting if they got rid of unit stacks.
 
edit: I just looked into it, and yeah, no stacks.  this is a pretty huge change.  Can't wait to learn the details.

I played a decent amount of Civ IV against the computer and I never really understood the complexity of it. I would win most of the matches I played, but I never really understood what I was doing haha.

I wonder if units will have sizes instead of stacked formations. Like battalion size that can be upgraded to division or something. They can sort of represent health.

I'm kinda disappointed by the questions You asked Ryan. Basically the only info is that they make a new UI, graphic engine and change to hexes. I mean the change to hexes is big, but what else does change?

Never finished an actual game in Civ ever sadly, but always still enjoyed the game and its many mod type modes it came in Civ IV BTS.

Were you playing on Noble difficulty? That is the difficulty that is 'even' with no advantages either way. If that proved too easy, there is a reason there are 5 more levels above that. If you could win on Monarch, then you are using some deep strategy and better than most who venture into multiplayer.

Yeah, I'm hoping they'll expand on the experience system from the last game to let you make each unit really unique.  I also read somewhere that you no longer loose units if they're defeated.  I wonder how that works?  So many crazy things.

Apparently, you can only fit one unit per square (no more unit stacking) and ranged units will actually fire across a couple of tiles. I would love to see some proper gameplay shots (diplomacy, battle, etc), all I've seen up until now is the same screens of terrain.

I'm a little pissed.  I'm still playing Civ 3.  I bought CIv 4 during the Steam Holiday sale and then my computer crashed.  I still haven't been able to play one minute of CIv 4 and now Civ 5 is being released soon.  Geez..

After the amazing game that was Civ 3, I found 4 to be kind of a letdown.  With all of the new gameplay mechanics though, it sounds like Civ 5 might get me back into the series.
