Dead Rising 3 Wishes Us a Blood-Soaked Halloween

This still doesn't scream next gen to me. I get it's a launch title though.

The best thing about the original was that instead of making super hi-poly models it instead went for hundreds of onscreen zombies. It was a clever, clever way to use next-gen power for scale (and thus gameplay) rather than visuals.

If they're clever, that's what this will be.

I'm blown away. Until the end I was just thinking "well of course not. This is the current-gen version." I guess that's the price you pay for how many zombies will be on-screen or whatever.

Hope this ports to PC sometime in the future. I loved both Dead Risings and now that I know this is possibly just as goofy, I want it!

Prime example that quality of the gameplay can outweigh visual fidelity! I cannot wait for this!

Apparently I'm in the minority, but all that goofy stuff completely turns me off.

Way better then that E3 demo.

This is just about the only thing that could give me pause between getting a PS4 or XB1 first... Dead Rising 2 is one of my favourite games of the whole console generation.

For those wondering about PC I'm willing to bet you actual cash money that this, just like DR, will be One Console Only No PC.

But, in a year or two (when I get a console, well, okay I'll get both - I'll likey already have the WiiU by then) I'll be able to get it super cheap as a Platinum Hit/Super Seller/Best Of/Classic/Whatever, so that's good.

@noelveiga: The amount of zombies is impressive. However if they want 500 dollars they need to step up the visuals. Plus I hope they fix the grinding aspect of those games and the saving system.

@smallville123: You can save anywhere now instead of having to head to a bathroom.

If it does it won't be out for about a year from now.

The original Dead Rising was the first game Capcom developed on their MT Framework engine and it was coded entirely in the 360's architecture. This means that if Capcom ever wanted to port it to another platform like PS3 they would've had to of re-coded the entire game, which would never be worth it. If you're going to recode an entire game you might as well be making a new game.

Anyways, DR2 was developed on a completely different engine and by a completely different team and the mistake Capcom made with DR1 isn't something a developer would do today, especially not with Dead Rising again.

Also note that a port of the original Dead Rising (Chop Till You Drop) came out on the Wii but used the Resident Evil 4 engine in order to do so.

This has to be the one game I am looking forward to from this upcoming generation.

Yeah - I'll be dloading this one Day One, probably the most interesting launch title for the XOne other than Forza.

I've always been ambivalent to the goofiness. The thing that turned me off was that the first two games played like aaasssssssss.

That said, I am totally looking forward to this game.

Meh, I can live with the visuals not being as amazing as they could be if I get to drive through hundreds of zombies at once with a modified car and not have any frame rate drops.

DR1 made me buy a 360.
This.. and Forza will make me buy an X1.... eventually.

This was a smart trailer. The main complaint against DR3 so far has been that it looks too self serious, so they bust out some silly costumes for halloween. Very clever.

This is literally the first thing that gave me any sort of desire to get a XBone. That simple trailer brought back all my memories of awesome times in Dead Rising.

There's already been plenty of trailers & previews before this one that have shown off the game's sillier side.

Yeah it is kinda weird, but I've come to appreciate games running really smooth and not necessarily be visually...detailed or taxing on the system.

@charlee_coco: Isn't MT Framework also flexible for multi-platform use now? I recall RE 5 was made in MT Framework and Lost Planet 2 was also in MT Framework.

@yummylee: Ah, was not aware. I'm glad though, that's easily my favorite part of Dead Rising.

Wait for PC, then maybe someone will mod some damn colour into the game

It's a pretty good launch exclusive, knowing Capcom it'll be on every other system soon enough. Still waiting for them to put RE Revelations on Vita!
