Memories of the 1up/GFW podcast return when any talk of advertising on the BombCast comes up, I just hope that any ads are not as stupid or cringe-worthy to listen to as the ones on the ZD network of podcasts, they were horrendous, especially when done by the Editorial staff ugh :-/ Also I agree that members should not have to deal with ads ever, just imho

The upcoming beta reminds me of when Screened was about to launch and me and the other moderators for that site got to run around like idiots on it before anyone else got to see it. That was just the staff and mods though, a no holds barred beta with all the subscribers will be nuts.

Thanks a lot to them, and check them out of it's something that interests you." Although, I'm sure somebody would find a way to be offended by that.

Please monetize the Bombcast. Even if its just a "The Bombcast is brought to you by" at the beginning. I trust you guys to do what is best for the users and I want you guys to grow. You have proven to me that you can add new people (Patrick) and make the site even better. I won't be satisfied until Giant Bomb is the biggest and best games site on the net. If monetizing the Bombcast is the way to do it, I trust you guys to make it work.

If you're (anyone) is "offended" by advertising, it would be pretty hard to live in most cities on the globe, I think it has more to do with people feeling "entitled" :-/

However, I would defiantly welcome "quality" advertising (or any other way to help the site & guys), but certainly not something that makes me just want to skip through it or lament it's presence, hopefully with CBS behind them these guys can get some high quality ads that don't sound like the amateur stuff of the old ZD days, personally I would Not like endorsements from the Editorial staff At All Ever. Ever.

Yep, that sounds totally fine to me. If a podcast is sponsored, it doesn't mean that they can only talk about that sponsored product or anything. I listen to plenty of podcasts with advertising and they usually just have two or three 30 second breaks with some ads. The average Bombcast these days is over three hours - adding a minute of advertising to ensure that it continues to exist? Hell yeah, that sounds reasonable.

I'd be totally okay with advertisements in front of the bombcast. Unlike the rest of the internet, I can "suffer" through 30 seconds of noise to help support the people who make great content (though it's a bit moot for me since I'm a subscriber, but no ads are not why I'm a subscriber). Three hours is a lot of time to throw away for no pay.

The site's looking great though. As someone who's made a couple simple websites, it's pretty cool to see the underpinnings of something much more beastly in size.

I'm gonna post so many dicks when the site goes on beta.

They should make an overly dramatic documentary about the launch of the new site.

Also I had no idea about hitting the pound sign for making quick links.

Not crazy about the redesign. Whatever though I don't do much on the site except watch videos, listen to the podcast, and once in a blue moon post on the forums/comment.

I wouldn't mind it AT ALL, especially if they're advertised in a fun way like the MONEYZONE on My Brother My Brother and Me.

That would be great. So many people do it and nobody really cares. Like Joe Rogan's podcast. He talks about a product kinda like he hates it and hates having to do it; basically he makes it funny; and then after that you have two hours of what you came for. Nobody watches TV anymore and has to deal with those commercials; everybody has Adblock; what's one single advertisement going to do to hurt anybody? "Brought to you by GamerGlovz, because you need that extra power when you game!" "That hurt to say." "Yeah, it was great." ...and then it's over with.

I'm new to the Giant Bomb Community. When do these broadcasts take place? I'd love to be able to participate real time.

I've yet to watch this, but just based on the comments here, I would rather pay an extra $100 or $200 a year (this is not an exaggeration) than ever have to deal with an ad ever. This is why I stopped watching all TV and use AdBlock on sites that don't give me an option of removing ads.

Will come back with more informed ideas later tonight after I get to watch!

They usually have it posted on the schedule ~a day ahead of time or so. Frontpage on the right.
