Devil May Cry TGS 2011 Trailer

..............Yawn nop sorry I still don't care for this game in the mean time I'm going to play the REAL prequel you know the one that doesn't suck and was made years ago.

After playing Enslaved and then hearing Ninja Theorey were making the new DMC, i lost all interest. If enslaved is anything to go by, they cannot do combat to save their lives.

Also, new Dante looks fucking terrible. 17 year old emo/tweaker with a sword...

Never been a Devil May Cry fan I don't think this game will change that. Though I will give it a try.

Sorry. I'm one of those stubborn people that loved DMC 1 and 3, but will refuse to play this game because of that asshole they are calling Dante.

I prefer my stylish jerks to like pizza and mouthing off, not someone that looks like they just snuck out of their closet at their parents house after scoring some meth. This goes for the general overall style of these games too.

Sucks cause DMC is one of my favorite game series (even though I've never played 4 and I disliked 2), but I still can't support this. No hard feeling against Ninja Theory either. It's their vision. Capcom just wanted them to slap it on one of their most recognizable brands and one of their most beloved characters just to kick start some easy sales so they'd have to do less work marketing it. They're the heartless ones.

Was that Pain of Salvation on the background?

well as a big devil may cry fan i will definitely get this. i hope he's still the same cocky over confident dante who's kind of a dick because that is the dante i know and love

@xobballox: i think it was just for the japanese audience. this was the tokyo game show trailer. if you check out the old trailers that they showed in the US it has the better music. it may be the new direction for the music, but i think it was just because it was the trailer for Japan

Is a change of aesthetic enough to make me wanna play another Devil May Cry game?

I'm as big of a Devil May Cry fan as it gets, but I feel like I could just play through 4 again. I don't think I need a new one. All these trailers just make me say "yep, Devil May Cry. That's what this game is."

EDIT-- I'd rather play Asura's Wrath instead just cos it's something new.

I'm guessing that the game will end with some crazy nonsense that causes Dante's hair to be permanently white for the inevitable sequel.

Change can be bad and/or dumb, you know. Just being different doesn't inherently mean it will be better. That said, I am pretty much on board with DmC at this point, aided by some subtle changes to Dante's design that make him a little bit less like a scumbag. Can't really judge the combat because they haven't said a damn thing about it yet, but it looks alright, if not a bit slower than you'd expect from a DMC game.

Looks okay, if you forget that this is DMC, not God of War or Castlevania LoS.(love both those games btw) Seems like with this and NG3 it's all style over substance. I'm not saying I think they're both going to turn out terrible, but for fans of the series this feels kind of insulting.

Each time a see DMC, in my head it's like, "Oh Castlevania, why haven't you thought about this first".

I'm really excited for this. While I do prefer older Dante, I don't hate younger Dante all that much.

He looks like Stefan from SNL weekend updates. I just want to slap him or feed him some carbs to make him happy.

Yep, the combat still doesn't look up to DMC3's standards. Transitions look kinda slow and stiff. It's to be expected, of course, since Ninja Theory is handling this (they make good games, but the combat isn't their strong suit).

Also, emo Dante is dumbest thing that happened to the series since DMC2.

I also feel like something is off about Dante's face, in the way that something was wrong with Starkiller 2's face in SW: TFU 2. It looks spongy and doesn't seem to fit.

I played Enslaved. Liked it a lot, actually. But even I thought its combat was really dull and unimpressive and I'm usually really lenient when it comes to judging that gameplay area. That's what I'm worried about with this DmC. I can handle the weird punk redesign even if I don't like it, but if I'm gonna be stabbing and shooting demons/angels/whatevers left and right I hope they make it way more interesting than fighting was in Enslaved.

At the moment, I'm still reserving judgement on this.

Also a Demon Hunter should look confident or maybe even just straight up full of himself when fighting demons. Not all melancholy like this guy looks in every video.

The more I see the more my I expect an average to good game by its own rights, but not so much Devil May Cry. Combat specifically, as I honestly do not like western (God of War, Heavenly Sword, Dante's Inferno, etc) style hack 'n slash combat; they never feel very good to me, for reasons I can't really put into words (uncomfortable? I dunno). Granted, because of that I haven't checked out Enslaved, so I don't know how Ninja Theory theory has been doing since Heavenly Sword. Maybe they'll surprise me.

Also, seems DMC4 is still the game of choice to draw mechanics from. Before people found an attack animation or two that looked to be ripped straight from Nero, Devil Bringer-like combat mechanics, and now we've got even the Hell Bound movement. Not sure if it's significant at all, but it still brings this little tingling feeling of dread at the back of my head for some reason.

@xobballox: Thought trough slowdown can be very cool though, look at Bayonetta or Arkham Asylum where stuff slows down in battle at the right moment just to give impact that right amount of punch.

I also agree with you about the music choice. It started good but then...yeah, it got messy. The Glitch Mob song in the trailer before was awesome though. The really got me pumped with that one.

I want to be the lead creative director and make Dante look like me...Ego Freak.

Trailer was cool apart from that music. wasnt a fan of that at all.
