E3 2012: Dante's Lookin' for a Fight

Dante looks like Luka Magnotta. And acts like a massive twat. No matter how good the gameplay is, I'll pass on this one.

I agree, the Captivate trailer was amazing and got me psyched for this game. While this was left me a bit disappointed. All I really want is for them to edit out some of the swearing and the "Dante the Demon Killer" line. I'm hoping Capcom rushed this trailer like the RE6 demos seemed to be because almost everything else I've seen from this game has just been gravy.

Edit: okay watched through the end. White and red coat, I'm all in. Not sure on the facial animations, but other than that.. sure.

Are you serious? It didn't even occur to me until I saw this comment but Dante acted exactly like Anakin in Episode II.

I really don't like what I'm seeing here. Dante sounds like even more of a douche than ever before and then there's the apparent Anonymous spin.

Plus the obvious of Ninja Theory not having proven that they can do a good combat system yet. So yeah, while that part looks flashy in a video I'll have to hold off on judgement until I get my hands on a demo.

The thing that has me worried about the game the most remains to be the feel of the combat. I like NT's previous 2 games' scenery and some of the characters, but I didn't really enjoy fighting in either of them.

Can't say I know all too much about the original DMC series besides what I saw in, like, two episodes of the anime (oops), but this game does look excellent. Despite what all the diehard DMC fans are telling me, hahah. I mean, their version of Dante lines up with what I'm familiar with, the enviornments look great, and interesting, even if some of them are seizure-worthy. The dialogue is just about as dorky as I thought it'd be, and "bad" dialogue doesn't necessarily mean a bad storyline, so whatever! I can't wait to see more of this game. Looks like it'll be a little while longer, though.

First DMC I won't be playing, I guess.

Regardless of how the gameplay side holds up at least it seems that Ninja Theory's penchant for emotive characters and great cinematic elements is intact.

I like this Dante, he's not afraid of going oldschool, giving someone the finger and writing FUCK YOU in big letters instead of his name. That's precisely the kind of dumb and cheesy badassery I'm into.

This game has Devil May Cry's attitude written all over it. The music style may be a bit more modern/different, the battle system a bit more complex, and Dante's more "Punk" than "Asshole," but this say Devil May Cry to me.

@Nottle: yeah, I know one or two guys who are bummed by Dante not being the same. And in you're other comment, after recently playing DMC2 I can confirm that Dante loses ALL personality in that game.

Dante reminds me a bit of Hayden Christensen. Anyways, I think the voice actor suits the character pretty well (despite some of the cheesy lines, but I think they're cheesy in a good way) I'll definitely check this out.

He's just as cheesy and over the top as the original Dante. My problem is not with him, it's with how the game's most likely going to play. I do, however, want to know more about this demonic banking system and if they're hiring.

Occupy Da Club

The ham-fisted attempts by Ninja Theory to seem "current" are pretty asinine. Unless Enslaved's writing really picked up after where it broke my disc drive, I seriously don't understand how they got a reputation for being good at it.

Combat looks the same, dialogue is awful but re idea of actually finding the demons among humans is interesting.

Haters be damned, I think this game looks good. Although the Anon thing did elicit a bit of an eye roll.

Was that Jeffery Combs? That's all it took now I'm excited.

Wasn't Dante mopey in the second game. A lot of the time he was a lot like this, cocky, saying one liners.

To be fair some of the criticism stems from worrying if Ninja theory can do combat as good as the previous Devil May Cry guys.

I dig the They Live vibe, hopefully it isn't completely lost in the shuffle of just being a mindless hack and slash. Plus if I buy this, it means Ninja Theory has to make another Enslaved right?....please NT!
