E3 2012: Employ Dwarf Strategery in A Game of Dwarves

I sure hope this is a 3d Dwarf Fortress! Or at least something close.

OT: I fall into the downward spiral that is Dwarf Fortress on occasion so I'm really looking forward to this. The number 1 request to Bay 17 is to bring a competent GUI to the game but they haven't delivered. This looks like (an albiet less complex version of) that request. I'll check it out.

Agreed with others on getting a Dungeon Keeper vibe off this & if it's like that in the humor/gameplay, I'll definitely give it a try. Still slightly uneasy about this thanks to that lackluster Dungeons game that didn't get it right in the gameplay but looked like it could have been a good DK clone.

So you're building a dwarf... fortress?

Paradox knows their goofy fun, but I'm a bit worried about that kinda tower defense looking overworld map. If they keep most of the focus on dungeon... keeping, count me in.

So Dwarf Fortress with graphics and a story? Not the worst idea, though who knows if this will go as crazy and deep as the text game.

I've always wondered why someone hasn't taken the insanity that is Dwarf Fortress to the next level. Minecraft is close, but lacks autonomous dwarves that subsist on alcohol and regularly go insane and start murdering each other.

Dungeon Keeper returns without so much evil. I can't tell if I like this.

Not quite Dwarf Fortress, certainly closer to Dungeon Keeper than DF despite the skin of Dwarves over top of it.

i dont think dwarf fortress is going to find a rival for complexity any time soon but i'd be interested to see what other people could do with little parts of the the DF formula

I got a pretty good laugh out of that when I saw it. Just make sure not to build any trenches of any kind.

voice actor sounds like the same guy that played Bourbon in Metro 2033 trying to fake a scottish accent.

Yeah this is basically Dwarf Fortress with graphics, and not quite as complex.

Got a Dungeon Keeper vibe from this.

Very much this, that was one of my favourite base building games of the last few years.

Art looks kinda neat, if this is Dwarf Fortress I'm sold.

Well that story was ripped straight from Warhammer.

This looks good (there's a brief gameplay video out too).

Looks a lot like Dungeon Keeper which I am still a huge fan of to this day.

I will buy the next Dwarf based game to NOT have shitty Scottish accents.
