E3 2013: Diablo III Multiplayer Totally Works on PS3

Oh hey i'm playing this as I watch this.

Join the loot grind that PC players have been sick of for many moons.

How is ze multiplayer?

i.....might actually buy this.....

I may actually buy another copy of this, like Ryan expressed in the Marvel Heroes TNT, I prefer these kinds of game with direct control.

And, you know, not having to sign in every time you want to play, or for that matter, end up trying to play during their maintenance hours, is pretty good too.

Buying a constantly patched game on a console is a bad idea.

Let this be a reminder, Blizzard still fails their customers.

Just a few weeks ago, I tried to log into my account for the first time in a while only to see that it was hacked. I was also using a mobile authenticator + a unique and difficult password, so I'm not sure how they even managed this. After logging in, I see ALL my shit is gone, my gold, my items, everything on every character, gone. I get back to blizzard and ask for a rollback. They say that it is impossible to roll back my characters/account because it had been too long since the hack occurred. What the fuck?

They left me with an empty shell of an account that I had previously played for a very long time and had a ton of fun with.

I don't want to shit on the party, perhaps this is a great port. But no way expect any sort of good customer relations from blizzard these days.

Most interesting thing about this: no AH (neither GAH nor RMAH). Players have been asking for a no-AH mode in the manner of Hardcore since D3's release, but since it's unlikely that'll ever happen (despite top Blizzard devs calling the AH a mistake), Diablo 3 on the PS3 is probably the best we'll get.

What on earth would you do for?

Gee, the multiplayer works great when everyone is cramped together in one screen with bad guys in the immediate proximity? Amazing.

How about when one guy goes off to explore a side dungeon, another just has to reorganize his inventory right now, the third is in the bathroom, and the 4th can't be bothered to wait and has cleared dungeon floors ahead of his allies? No comment, right?

Actually, this is exactly the problem. Storage is expensive, and with the volumes Blizzard is dealing in they're only interested in keeping the most recent few backups. I don't imagine they keep anything older than two weeks.

Local multiplayer, eh? I don't know why, but its inclusion always pleasantly surprises me nowadays.

I'd be willing to purchase this game again just to be able to play single player without having to be connected to the internet though. (My connection is crap. Lagging out in single player is tremendously frustrating.)

@levio: You didn't play a whole lot of pre-broadband coop, did you? Besides, this trailer states that there'll be online multiplayer as well, so what's the issue with including local for those who do want to use it?

If I can bring my PC character then instant buy. looks fun either way.

Well, I'm certainly going to give this a try.

I can definitely see this being a lot of fun on the couch with friends. I used to love to play the original Diablo on the PS1 with a friend. Diablo 3 gets a lot of shit, but it has been patched to where it should have been at launch. The game has a new lead designer and he is really making the changes necessary. Hopefully the expansion can clean up the shoddy story - but I'm not holding my breath with that one.

Couch co-op is going to make this! I can't wait to get to 60 again with some friends!

Same here. The local coop seems neat, too bad I don't have any friends to play locally with. Seems kind of like a pointless purchase for me. I would love to play the 360 version for achievements though. I'd get some kind sick enjoyment out of that.

I meant why would you give Blizzard money for a game with mandatory always-online singleplayer? If we as consumers want an end to such shitty practices we have to stop rewarding them. My personal opinion is that always-online singleplayer = no sale.

That was the problem. I hadn't played in about 8 weeks. 3 weeks is their rollback limit. They didn't offer anything to patch up the whole caused by their own shitty security either. "Oh, you got hacked? Your password is secure and you used our authenticator? It has been longer than three weeks? Sorry pal, but all that hard work, well, fuck you!" I'm not looking for a handout - I just wanted my shit back. Or something equal in value of doing three solid months of hard time in their game. Sorry, no way that I'll find this acceptable.

Looks great. I don't plan to use local multiplayer but its awesome they included it.

Why the hell aren't they putting this on Vita? I would play the shit out of a portable D3.

Disappointed the controller support won't be pushed out to the PC version, even though virtually all of the work is done. Couldn't take much to create a toggle between keyboard/mouse and controller... Was hoping they would, but everything I've read says they won't.

I wanna play on my big comfy couch and not buy games a second time.

I've been wanting to play this on my PC, but unfortunately I have a low-end PC that can't even play it on minimum settings. I'll definitely pick this up either on the PS3 or PS4.

Agreed. It may have something to do with this being the PS3 version so it's running at medium quality compared to the PC version. Or maybe it does just actually look like shit now...

Man, Playstation has a better trackrecord with patches, also this game already is in an almost perfect state.

Depending how they handle the menus, this will make either a great couch co-op game or a clusterfuck of a game to play on gamepad. As long as your friend has their own menu to go through their inventory, it should work well

I'm definitely looking forward to playing this on PS3! I've determined that PC Gaming in my tiny apartment with my setup is damn near impossible. Also, my first Diablo experience was D1 on PSX, so it seems fitting.

Does anyone know how they manage the targeted ground spells like teleport or blizzard? I'm curious how they pulled it off without a mouse without it being as efficient.

Local multiplayer seems like a good reason for a console version of Diablo 3.

Fair enough, if theres no always-online requirement then I really have no complaints with a console version of D3. Hopefully they patch this nonsense out of the PC version too, because otherwise its a major "fuck you" to the PC crowd.

Is it going to be the same or are you not going to be able to do things like search the AH etc?

I'm actually excited to play it on the Xbox 360.
