I recently replayed Heavy Rain with the PS Move controls patch, and surprisingly I found it played better than with the gamepad. Too bad it looks like they dropped support for it here.

I was a huge fan of Heavy Rain despite its issues, so this looks to be really awesome. Not too sure about the Aiden thing, but getting rid of that horrid Sixaxis QTE stuff is, in my opinion, fabulous.

I don't think it has anything to do with which hand she's using but which direction on the screen the action will take place, so if there's a guy ----> over on this side you push the stick ----> over here. If the dude to punch is on the left side of the screen you flick that way instead. I think you'll be fine.

If that is the case I should be fine. Will wait and see really. Just was first time I have had to really think about it outside of motion gaming.

I'm not a fan of QTEs but gesturally moving the analog sticks sounds really iffy to me. I hope there is a demo for this one.

I obviously don't entirely know how "the entity" is incorporated into the narrative, but I feel like the entire inclusion of it and its application during gameplay is quite silly. This is kind of how I feel about all of Quantic Dream's games as a whole: the visuals and the realistic characters and settings intrigue me, but there's always some supernatural element or other to their games that just completely kill it for me.

I believe in Heavy Rain you had to hold down R2 in order to walk. But yeah, still weird to mention in a trailer.

Was this video suppose to be their instruction manual? What ever it was the game play turned me off, I was somewhat looking forward to this game but I do not feel it is the type of game for me.

For people who have played their previous games. In heavy rain you walked forward by holding the R2 button and looked around with the left analog stick i believe. It was really shitty and was a big complaint people had with the game. Same thing with all of the quick time events.

This entire video is basically a reaction to past critiques people had with their games. It's smart, I know I am more excited knowing that it has a chance to not be as awkward as heavy rain.

@dudacles: It's obviously telling people who disliked the camera and control scheme in Heavy Rain that it's not the same. You no longer "drive" your character. You have direct control. No more QTE's (debatable), the ghost is always available so it's not strictly scripted etc.

Not sure why the story needs to include war in somalia and crazy train jumping in order to be emotionally involving, but I like the ideas of the game and interactions do look far more intuitive, so I'm down.

I loved Heavy Rain, but I have no idea what to make of this game. Hopefully it makes for an exciting surprise in October rather than a disappointment.

I don't mind QTE, story focused games as long as the story doesn't suck and the voice acting isn't horrible. Heavy rain suffered from both those things, but it seems at least this game has proper acting.

The main problem I had with Heavy Rain was that some of the game's story development was based purely on a simple reflex system. I felt robbed when I couldn't react fast enough and my character died resulting in me resetting the system and trying again.

If your skill and tactical ability in gameplay affected the outcome of the story it would feel fair but when it comes down to simple reflex motions it feels more like the game failed instead of you. Not sure if I explained my point very clearly but it doesn't seem like Beyond will resolve this problem completely. I like the look of the game and the main character and everything else about it, but deeper gameplay mechanics should be involved when the fate of a character is on the line, and player choice should be involved as often as possible (do I fight this guy or jump off the train etc).

Blame Punch-Out

Punch out didn't have QTEs, not the NES one anyway. Just twitch gameplay and pattern memorization.
