E3 2015: Buck is Back and Hunting Master Chief in Halo 5

It's technically Locke's squad, not Buck's.

So it's unclear but can you play as Buck or just beside him?

Can someone explain why the chief is with the bad guys now? FYI, I only played the first one in the series.

We don't exactly know for sure. They haven't talked much about Chiefs motives, but a lot of people have speculated that it's because Cortana went rampant and he is trying to bring her back somehow?

You'll play as both Locke and Chief in this game, so we'll know what's going on when it's released.

@wandrecanada: If you're playing Coop one of you can play as Buck. You swap back and forth between Locke's team and Master Chiefs team. Both of which is composed of 4 named characters.

I see, thanks. Story seems interesting actually and the gameplay really packs a punch from what I can judge from the gameplay trailer.

I glimpsed at the title and hoped it was a sequel to Buck Bumble.

There is speculation that the Chief is searching for Mendicant Bias. The Forerunner AI that went rampant and helped the Flood against the Forerunners. He was separated into artifacts on the remaining forerunner ships after the rings were fired and one being on the ark. In Halo 3 he communicates to the Master Chief through the terminals and helps him and sees it a minor atonement for his sins. He shows stability for an ancient and once rampant ai. Had the same first thought. Sadly, right about now is NOT the time to rock with the biggity buck bumble.

The convenant... SPEAK ENGLISH!! Reach and Halo 4 missed alot of the humor that the previous Halos had. Here's to hoping this game will have that too.

If someone told me Nathan Fillion was gonna play a more central character in the Halo universe, I would have tried way harder to get into this series.

@jouhn: I completely disagree. I have always felt having the Covenant speak English was the worst decision Bungie made from a story perspective. Sure, the grunts had a couple mildly entertaining one liners but having full cut scenes of exposition between the Covenant (Halo 2) was awful. The Covenant in the first Halo seemed more threatening, alien and mysterious. I'm glad Halo Reach and Halo 4 did not give the Covenant any dialogue or cutscenes; I really felt it ruined the pacing and tone of the universe Bungie created in Halo 1.

So if I'm reading this right, Buck's a Spartan. Which means he's a cyborg?
