Where is the trailer for the Trench Digging Simulator 2016?

I don't mean to sound crazy, but I like the look of it...

No trenches?

Changing up the game's setting was enough to make me interested in a another single player campaign.

Guns are still guns, planes are still planes, tanks are still tanks. Why shouldn't I just play one of the previous games?

We mo-capped real tanks for this Battlefield. Look at these tanks.

I don't see why this is WW1.... it's not WW1 at all, just a skin that tbh doesn't even look like WW1.

I just find it offensive.

The only good news is the airship doesn't insta blow up, because they were impossible to shoot down in real life at that time.

World War One was more than just trenches.

I am really excited to play this. I saw literally the last 20 seconds of gameplay from the stream and just from seeing the WW1 era gun made me all sorts of happy.

Though it would be pretty fair to say it was mostly trenches. Biggest battles of the war were all trench battles. The Somme, Verdun, Passchendaele. Pretty big area to not include.

I was really hoping to see a French or German protagonist for this. The Brits had limited interest in the European front. They were mostly focused on the Arabian Penninsula. It would be both brave and also probably financial suicide to have a German hero. It's not like the Germans were the villains here. Both sides had no good reason to be fighting so why focus on the British when the French and Germans both had a lot more at stake considering most of the European front was fought in those nations?

Also, while there were tanks and SMG's and mortars and so on by the end of the war in specific locations, I find it odd to make that the focus instead of any of the things that make WW1 unique. Not that trench warfare is super interesting, but you get one shot of horse warfare which was very unique in this war as soldiers were using single shot rifles and then drawing sabers when they got close. It's a pretty unique way of fighting that was never employed again. And then you have the massive disparity in between the technology being used by the major European powers on the home front, and the technology employed by their colonies is Asia and Africa.

There was the Serbian Front, the Italian Front, the Russian/German Front, the Carpathian Front, the Gallipoli Front, the Caucasus Front, the Arabian/Levant Front, the Libyan Front, the South African Front, the Cameroon Front, and others I am sure I am forgetting. And even so, Verdun was more than just a pair of trench lines fighting each other. One can argue that the Western front was more strategically significant or not and it was way more famous, but the war was truly massive and quite a lot of it was not just trench lines.

@donos: The WW1 setting offers a different balance of weapons. Less emphasis on high rate of fire automatic weapons and lock on missiles. The melee stuff looks pretty cool as well

Offensive? In what way?

WWI wasn't just drab billiard table trench warfare. Look up the battles of Arras, Gorlice-Tarnow, and Gallipoli. Fighting in various terrain including the bombed out town shown today is completely within WWI.

Leefe Robinson VC shot a Zeppelin down and proved them to be extremely vulnerable in 1916.

In a ridiculous and ironic way DICE is educating people on what happened during WWI.

I'm willing to fogive historical inaccuracies for gameplays sake (like using the BAR, when it maybe saw three months of use before the end of the war) but Slouch hats on generic 'English' troops with Union flag insignia is down right insulting. It smacks of either laziness, or ignorance.

I'm getting pissed, and I was kinda looking forward to this.

Funny everyone bitched about Titanfall not having a campaign yet here we are saying "Against all odds, they keep putting single player campaigns in these Battlefield games."

Just like how at the time everyone said " no one plays the story in Call Of Duty they should do away with it" then of course they bitched about Titanfall not having a story just as they will likely call the story in 2 stupid/repetitive/needless/etc

People who are saying this looks like just another Battlefield game clearly haven't been playing them lately: This looks like the developer is taking the time to make some meaningful changes. Sure, they may seem small to some, but the desire to mix it up is clearly there, especially the melee combat and the maneuverability of the biplanes/tri-planes (Some were actually quite agile despite their relatively new presence in combat.).

Then again, it's a new release in a FP franchise so I shouldn't be too surprised that people jump to call it more of the same. One day I'll learn to remember that fact...one day.

Possible hype for the game aside though: I won't be grabbing this at launch. No Battlefield game has ever worked properly the first month (or far longer ... BF4!) of release.

I can understand why people are annoyed at the ahistorical treatment of the setting in Battlefield 1, but it's hardly surprising that EA/DICE have chosen to use the setting as merely a theme for the game. Trying to make a faithful World War I game with the kind of gameplay that Battlefield's online Conquest mode is known for would be very difficult and probably too risky for EA. Was anybody really expecting to see a Battelfield-scale version of Verdun?

As someone who's been playing these games since Battlefield 1942, I'm just happy to see that Battlefield 1 looks like a Battlefield-ass Battlefield game, especially after Hardline.

@bwmcmaste: there's artistic lisence, and then there's trivializing an entire country for 'a cool hat'.

It's a shame there's no sappers or tunnelers mechanics to change up the tactics a bit. Basically a stealth bomberman thing where the tunnels and trenches randomly generate with each map and you have to place the charges at the right spot to undermine a fortification.

No it does something like 70-80% of your health on normal, if they have a hardcore mode like the other battlefields then it will be one shot
