Agreed, and surprisingly hard to do comfortably.
edit: Also, stop showing super fit ultra fitness freaks doing this stuff, it's hardly realistic. Get some tubby gamers, or old people, realism at its finest!

I don't get it. If she's 'running' in front of that screen, why doesn't she just open the door and run outside. You know, like non-crazy people do.

I like that as a supposed Kinect product half of the video shows someone holding a Wiimote.

You've bought a Bowflex coat rack and a Nautilus closet filler, now try the EA coaster!  Seriously, so many people buy this shit, use it for a month ("I'm really gonna do it this time!"), then go back to being fat.

@EthanielRain: Hey, I'm seriously considering Bas Rutten's Body Action System... but more because I need a better training dummy than a get fit quick idea. Personally, I think anything that can increase a person's desire to improve their activity is good. The reason why home gyms become coat racks is because people using them quickly become bored with unvaried repetition. With this, it should keep their attention longer with more varied activities, but until they feed new exercise DLC updates (or stream actual classes you can take through the game), people will get bored of this as well. They seem to be getting closer to hitting the mark, but until I see more, this might not be a game changer quite yet.

"The portal to real fitness in your home."  Uh, I'm pretty sure that a treadmill is the portal to real fitness in your home.

Seriously, it's really no different than sweating to the oldies with Richard Simmons on a VHS tape.

Does the lady with the black shorts come with the game? If not then I really don't have much use for this. Sure, I could lose weight and become decently attractive, but that is a lot of effort for vanity.

I agree. I was watching this and thinking, wow, these people have perfect form in every activity. I mean the girl doing boxing drills actually pivots properly with the stance she in while moving her feet (thought she doesn't keep her hands up or chin tucked, so I'm assuming these people are just a bunch of aerobic instructors). I want to see the Subway Jared of video game exercise that shows someone actually getting a workout with results, rather than a super-happy-fun aerobics instructors in their surgically sterile gigantic studio apartments. Sponsor some dude who looks like a mess and get him fit, then verifiably laid with use of your product. Then I  might admit you're onto something EA.

do you not like people to see you running outside? and those darn treadmills are just way too expensive! or maybe you just prefer running in place? do you like to see a virtual version of yourself doing push-ups with you? then ea sports active might be for you!

After seeing this it doesn't look that bad though I wonder if would work that great if it is going to be on the PS3 as their controller might not be all that responsive. Either way would rather see Lincoln Force than more fitness games.

@Fbomb: there is no such thing as the subway jared version of an exercise videogame.  these things could serve as a supplement to an existing routine, but nobody is going to get results with it by itself.

no problem with the concept of exercise with  a gaming console.
but i do not see a point in doing if you are just going to have an avatar mimic you pushups.
its a dull use of your TV.

If the game makes me feel like I live in one of those crazy gigantic apartments from this trailer while I work out, I'll take 3!

Will buy.

I liked the concept of the first EA Sports Active, but it was really held back by the wiimote and nunchuck - severely limited your range of motion and made a lot of the exercises awkward as you either had to grip the controller as well as the bands or have the stupid thing attached to your thigh.
