Evolve Adds Four New Hunters and the Behemoth Monster Today

I'm still playing and the new hunters are really fun. New monster, not so much (good thing I didn't pay for it).

hmm, i dunno... base game itself isn't gonna change much, same running running running o.o

Still playing it! Really enjoying it still!! The new balance patch feels really great and anyone who was stopped playing because if the mass wraith playing should definitely come back and give the game a whirl again. I think it was kind of sad how DLC skins turned so many people off, especially since they've been giving some away free as community events.

@mr__kamikaze: agreed on the hunters, they all are really cool and useful. It's too early to tell for the monster, I've only done solo with him and he seems extremely different than the other 3. Give it some time and I'm sure people will figure out how to play him.

To me it felt very much like Titanfall in that it got hyped to crap by all these websites and it could never live up to that. I also don't understand why neither game embraced the community, released an SDK and allowed custom created content. That kinda stuff really can sell these types of games, Dayz for ARMA 2 is a recent example of that. I personally feel that both games could have benefited greatly from that since they had so little content, I see someone making a Natural Selection 2 type mode for Evolve for example.

My biggest problem with evolve though was the fact it is 4 v 1 and that doesn't lend itself well to public games. It means that you have to spend a long time trying to get a good game, you'll have several bad matches for one good one. It doesn't feel worth it and I hate the lobby system they both adopt...

The game that has done matchmaking best is CS:GO, it doesn't throw you into an annoying lobby where you have to wait ages for the game to start. The match ends, you spend 10 seconds voting, load up the next map, have a warmup round and you're playing. So much better, games with lobbies I always end up trying to get a game for 10 mins, I just hate them.

They did do the DLC very well though, it's all purely cosmetic (until now) and they don't split the community up with map packs or not letting you play with someone who bought a monster. For example you can play against this new monster or with these new hunters, you just cannot play as one.

I have no idea why they got so much of a backlash, no one is complaining about Premium that you have to buy for each battlefield. Premium which is EA saying "we've worked out a way to charge you twice for the same game" and them splitting up the community constantly.

It pisses me off that I got into Battlefield 3 with the Karkand pack as it was amazing, then a new map pack came out and everyone moves on and my favourite maps become dead. I tried to play it after BF4 and Hardline came out and there isn't at 64 player games any more for it.

Why I don't get invested in Battlefield any more, why I still play Counter Strike to this day. Valve don't come along with a new CS every year to split the community, there have been 3 in over 15 years and the new ones are just basically upgrades.

So yeah, if Evolve was £20 on Steam, I'd be happy with that, but it was way too expensive when it came out for what you were actually getting. Since none of my friends were willing to pay full price, I had no one to play with and became super bored and will probably never go back to it now like Titanfall.

+ What where Respawn thinking with Titanfall? Make a Source Engine game and not build Steamworks into it ready for modding and custom maps....... so dumb. No idea why they left EA to just sell out to Activision to leave them and sell out back to EA again. EA are shit, they suck the blood dry from every developer until they're dead like a spider.

I have a better use for 60 dollars then polished Multiplayer Source Mod.

Stopped playing it, very unlikely I'll go back, even with new monster/hunters. Every round just felt the exact same. Boring.

There's a little storm blowing over this, as if 2K didn't have enough bad publicity on their hands. The complete pack aka the Monster Race Edition, didn't include the 4th monster despite being worded to imply it would.

I'm still playing Evolve on the regular. I think the new hunters are great, and they showed up a lot sooner than I thought they would. They have some powerful new weapons but they seem well balanced. My party was using mostly new hunters and we actually lost more than we won last night just trying to get the hang of how they work together. Some nights you lose more than you win, but I'm still having fun playing Evolve at max level.

I'm still playing Evolve. It's such a unique take on multiplayer. Not sure if the pricing for this new stuff is worth it though. Sixty bucks out of the gate is already pretty steep. I think Turtle Rock should get more money if they continue making such interesting games. I just doubt they'll ever be thought of in that AAA level of development.

I tried to play last night, and they had already added the new characters. I haven't played in a while and was just looking to unlock the characters that I don't have. But, I got matched into a game where everyone else had the DLC and the monster we were fighting was the behemoth. My teammates got mad at me and I did not feel like learning how to fight the new monster. So, I did not keep playing. I didn't play enough of the original game to justify buying the dlc.

One weekend of the BETA was more than enough for me one this one.

1: Not playing Evolve.

2: The additional monster/hunter does not entice me to play Evolve.

@dberg: Monster race edition gets the NEXT monster. It says 5th playable monster on the description. Behemoth is #4, right? I think getting Behemoth for free was a pre-order incentive.

I played this until Cities: Skylines came out. Then I played that until Bloodborne released. I don't see myself putting down bloodborne just yet, but I'll definitely be checking this out.

@shaggydude: Is playing it at max level a different game? The lack of balance killed that game for me. Seemed like the only viable strategy was go straight for the medic. It always worked for me as the monster and always killed us as the hunters.

Because what Evolve really needed was another paid content pack.

I'm in this category. Whatever I don't currently have time for, but am interested in, gets put on the "wait for Steam sale" list (although, there's a 50/50 chance I'll pass on it then as well, depending on how many games I happen to be playing). And since we're on the subject, if games were cheaper over all, I'd spend way more money on them. My Steam Library has dozens of games I've yet to play, just because they were priced too low to pass up. Anyways, I'm rambling.

I may pick up Evolve when it goes on sale. Looks interesting.

No, I no longer play this game despite playing it at launch. My interest waned early when getting a team of random hunters to work together well is nearly impossible unless you played friends. Combine that with the balance issues occurring at the same time and my interest waned. Will this new content renew my interest in the game? Not at all. I think I've seen all I wanted to see concerning Evolve.

I am really not sure why everyone compares this to Titanfall. Titanfall is actually really fun and they have a ton of DLC that is all free.

Played it for about a week then stopped. It was pretty fun for the time I spent with it and fairly well balanced, however running around chasing a monster was kind of boring for most of the match.

Never played a multiplayer match, didn't want to be matched up with random people. I'd much prefer a 4 player co-op game than a 4v1 game.

And no, new hunters doesn't make me want to play again.

I haven't been playing it because I never wanted it bad enough to pay $60. I did enjoy the beta weekends I played, but I can't justify paying full price for pretty much any game since I have a backlog of really good games that I haven't even installed.

Never picked it up period. The idea of basically needing four friends on call just to get a kick out of it wasn't a big selling point. I could say that I'd just have fun playing with randoms but, come on, let's not kid ourselves here.

As for that second part Alex: Nah, more DLC is not what this game needed.

The peak players on Steam today was less than 6,000.

I still play from time to time, but I was also never really hyped for this game to begin with. I also won't be buying the DLC for it.

It seems pretty easy to tell when the talk for a game will be short lived now though. There's no really single player content to speak of and for a game to be as massively hyped as this game was it has to gain the attention of a pretty large casual audience who aren't going to stick to any one game for a long period of time.

I'm not currently playing it due to Bloodborne eating up all my time, but I'd definitely like to check out the new Evolve content at some point. I had a fair bit of fun with the base game.

I might get it in the Steam holiday sale. As everyone expected, there's nowhere near enough content to warrant $60.

Still playing it. Love this game, new hunters are over powered...I can think of some definite fixes for a patch. The Behemoth is too squishy...roll is good but he should have quicker attacks and more armor or health maybe.

@niceguydan8: Huh, that's a pity. It would be nice if you could check the console numbers as easily as you can on Steam. Even the most played CoD on the PC, Black Ops 2, only has a peak of 7,801 today. I always though that tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people would have been playing them at one point.

Brink, Titanfall, Evolve I don't own any of these one trick ponies thanks to Brink looking pretty awesome and just having such a sad amount of content, everyone chasing that model confuses the shit outta me.

I played for a few hours and stopped. I enjoyed the game but felt I needed alittle more! New hunters aren't what I'm looking for!

Play it pretty much nightly with some friends, I really like it.

Still playing on PS4, very happy I got the Season Pass for it. Just needs new maps now is all. Sure the game is still a lot of running around, but you just have to be better than the monster and lead it. Good teamwork goes a long way for sure, but you don't need a pre-made group to have fun!

I payed $60, played for 3 hours, and never touched it again. Maybe if my friends had gotten into it I woulda played more.
