Man I'm excited to play this game and everything, but that was a pretty weak trailer, right? Especially compared to some of the other ones they've done which have been pretty exciting

Does this game only have the one map? I enjoyed one of the beta periods I played, but it didn't feel like enough variety to warrant a full retail price.

As a game programmer at a AA studio, I can say that many games are still at beta-level quality when they go gold...

Although the game itself has already gone gold, they can always perform server-side changes to improve the multiplayer stability right? Sounds like the biggest use out of a beta nowadays

This trailer isn't doing a very good job at getting me hyped for this game. I want to like it, but it just seems kind of soulless. :(

This game seems like a lot of fun I'll never have because I don't have a full group of folks to play stuff with.

@chaosofdante: Yea, between server load testing, and a final weapon/character balance check, there is a lot that can be accomplished with an 11th hour beta.

Beta? Seriously? For a game that's gone gold? WTF? I guess "Early Access" means something else these days as well.

Isn't Beta actually the most apt term for a "gold" master game these days? I'm not posting a one-liner quip - that's actually the case.

I believe they have confirmed there to be 12+ maps.

I hope they come up with a reasonable explanation for why these monsters need to be hunted. Every time I see these trailers the only thing I can think is "WTF did that monster do to these people to deserve this treatment?"

I had the same problem with Shadow of Mordor when you're hunting the really big Graug with the Dwarf fellow. That Graug is just chillin' out and you go into his home and murder him for no reason other than to appease the blood appetite of the Dwarf. It seems pretty screwed up.

Audio issues aside on the HD video. What the heck?? I am honestly shocked they're considering it gold already. In the last beta their addition of how perks were handled (more play time? Better perks) created a terrible playing field that put new users at a disadvantage, and the gameplay still didn't feel that enjoyable. I know after the last beta they said it was going to get some more work, so I didn't expect a release for at least 3-4 months. I'd be VERY wary for anyone picking this up day one if the mechanics and leveling system is the same as it was during the last beta.

what is alpha better question most games come out as concept art and a video. either way these terms are being used to market game in sleazy way.

pre order this game and get gold skin that took 10 minutes to make. but what ever do not wait to see if this game is good or not.

The alpha for this was fucking wild, like L4D before the new car smell wore off. I can barely wait get my hands on the full game! :)

Releasing a "beta" after a game goes gold sounds crazy but I guess that's where we are at these days with day 1 patches. Won't really help Sony fans though if they tweak Live netcode with a day 1 patch after beta when Sony isn't getting a beta...

I love the idea of the game but I honestly don't think it has enough to hold my interest. Not a purchase from me unless I hear that it is gaming perfection in the reviews... which I doubt.

There will most likely be a day one patch so one could still call it a beta.

I am not a console person. What does "going gold" actually mean? Passing cert?
Or is it about sales figure, like a "gold album".

Either ways... why are publishers thinking I give a damn? I'll totally read your internal QA reports if you let me though.

Firstly, thanks to the players who helped test Evolve during the Big Alpha in October, players in January should experience faster matchmaking, improved balance, and more.

*XBOX ONE

It’s an Open Beta for Xbox One owners with an Xbox Live Gold account! We’re asking as many of you as possible to join us. Just boot up your Xbox One and download the Open Beta! From January

15th-19th, Xbox One Open Beta players can play “Hunt” with the first two Monsters and first eight Hunters. Starting on January 17th, Xbox One Open Beta players can also play “Evacuation,” Evolve’s dynamic campaign. And remember: all Monster and Hunter characters unlocked during the Xbox One Open Beta carry over when Evolve launches on February 10th!

*PC PLAYERS

Starting January 16th, we’ll be holding a smaller closed technical test on PC. If you were invited to the Big Alpha on PC, you will have access to these closed technical tests as well. And if you already own Left 4 Dead or BioShock Infinite in your Steam library you can participate in the closed technical test, which is limited in scope and will not include Evacuation or have Hunter and Monster unlocks carry over to Evolve’s launch.

That rare instance where actual gameplay footage is much more exciting and spectacular than an expensive CG trailer.

Well, I disagree about the music. Audio issues aside, I like the music, but I am a sucker for that kind of soundtrack-action-sequence type stuff.

But, I completely agree about the content of the trailer. Some CG fight scene. How about something that maybe shows why the humans are there? Why are they trying to kill the critter? I'm sorta joking, but haven't humans done enough damage when it comes to killing off alpha-predators? As far as I know it's, "Oooh big animal, kill it." Or, maybe it's claws are good for male fertility problems.

But ignoring all that, I saw some fighting. Ok.

I was pretty excited for this game but that trailer was hot garbage. The idea for this game is too big to not expect it to be completely broken on launch if they can't even get their opening cinematic right

The whole trailer sounded muted as if the sound was coming from a cardboard box....other then that looks okay I guess

For a cinematic that was some janky animation. Whenever they start using jetpacks or someone gets thrown around everything looks super weird.

I've gone from being red-hot excited to stone-cold bored about this game over the course of it's development. I just don't think the core experience will hold-up long-term.

I wasn't feeling the alpha, but I'll probably do the ol' Amazon pre-order thingy to try it out one more time before I write the game off completely.

@dirtybirdy: From the previous beta it's looks like they're being hunted because they're getting to close to human civilizations. It's a cheap excuse from a preservationist perspective but that's what they're going with.

I will never understand the hype for this game after that beta. There are so many things just plain boring about this game....

I liked the music. Nothing crazy or "epic," just mood setting. Just too many pause-then-starts
