GDC 2010: A Moment with David Cage

Just finished the game yesterday.  I wonder if the DLC will solve some of the plot holes of the ending...

This guy's accent is pretty cool, it's not as annoying as I thought it would be. I liked this interview, I'm glad to know they won't be milking Heavy Rain's story in sequels. 
 
The cart part was pretty amusing.

This guy is kinda weird. Here are some quotes from his little interview in the recent issue of Game Informer:

I enjoyed that interview. Still need to play heavy rain, its on my lovefilm list.

All the graphics and QTEs in the won't make the voice acting any less jarring and immersion breaking.

Hey David, set your games in France if you're gonna use FRENCH VOICE ACTORS.

Did Ryan just spoil parts of Heavy Rain? Or was he just kidding about the super powers.
 
I don't know if that is a joke because of Indigo Prophecy....

Also, US February sales for the game was 219,300.  Not too shabby.

I really like the guy. I don't understand all the hate that gets directed at him.

And those 219,300 was only one day in the reporting period

great interview. david seems like a really cool guy. it's weird considering all this weird and pretentious stuff he said before heavy rain came out. almost like a completely different person ;d

No plans for a sequel? That's a relief. Heavy Rain felt more like a stand alone product, not some annualized franchise.

I hope they release a patch soon, I can't load my game because it freezes when I try....

Heavy Rain's format would be great for a Dexter game. Being able to hear Dexter's thoughts and being able to experience and control Dexter's secret would be pretty fun.

David Cage's voice sounds like a combination of someone's voice reversed and a computer text-to-speech thing. It's cool.

Maybe people should ask him why there is a horrible voice-acting and dialogue in a game that emphasizes human interaction? How about those plot-holes in a game that emphasizes story? Also, why do I need to press so many buttons to do a simple and mundane things? (Shaving for example).

I thought that this game was a true breakthrough in story telling.  I hope that these guys get to something new and unique next.  But I also hope some other games are inspired by this to tell their own stories better within other genres.  

Quantic Dream was really close to making a really important game for the advancement of video game story telling but it's too bad that it had so many weird technical issues and voice acting stuff. The game is still a great story and it tells that story in a very fluid and comprehensive way but the actual video game part just feels lacking.

I really really want some kind of dramatic sports game now.  You play a player with social anxiety disorder or something.

I just realized...
a lot of the little touches on the animations in heavy rain are all very similar to how David actually moves himself...
 
the folded arms... the head bobbing... it's like he's a Heavy Rain character!
maybe that says something about how realistic Heavy Rain's animations were.
 
Honestly, I'm glad to hear there's not gonna be a sequel... I'm pretty interested to see what he's gonna do next... and what exactly he meant by online...possibly some heavy story based online co-op game where you play as one of four characters while the other 3 are played by other people simultainiously?
