There were mechs in the first one. Sorta.
 
What's up with the fact that the burn in they used looked like shit? That's one of the coolest things in the game and it looked lame ....

I really didn't know anyone played the first game.  Maybe it was popular overseas, and that was the reason to make another.  Either way, this looks like the first with bigger maps and mechs added to the line-up.

First one wasn't bad similar as Two Worlds, though neither were really that great either & don't think they need a sequel as it'd probably be better to have those dev teams working on something new versus sequel to average game that didn't have all that great ideas that were strong enough to hold attention for several sequels.

Hey guys, I know it's kinda easy to harp on the game based on the first one... but eh, TimeGate's doing everything they can to make sure issues from the first are ironed out. We do still have a couple of interesting announcements coming :). Try not to judge the framerate there... we took the game out on a press tour a few weeks ago, and it ran really well. Not sure what's up in this vid. Anyway, give the game a chance hehe. TimeGate's one of the few devs left in the industry that's truly independent and doing well -- Prejudice is sort of the company's chance to deliver the shooter they want to make (and Tribes is actually a pretty good comparison :)

This comment section disappoint me. It just goes to show how much emphasis gamers put on aesthetics. Section 8 may look a little like halo, but if you guys would actually take time to look, you'd understand that the game plays more like a battlefield or tribes game. I hate ignorance.

@Edin8999:  It all depends how much they paid to have it made. It may have sold about 200,000 on X-box (which like someone said is not too shabby for a new IP, single A, online-only FPS), but that doesn't figure in PC and PSN sales. While it may not have done gangbusters, it faired okay and I really doubt it they spent too much on it. Critically, the game did okay too- averaging around a 70.  It was an okay game, plain and simple. I'm surprised it's getting a sequel, but the original at least showed the developer was competent enough and had some good ideas.  
  
(And to the person complaining about Bizarre Creations potentially getting canned: Blur sold about 500,000 copies, which for the money put in and for Activision's standards, may not have cut the mustard.)

Section 8 isn't dead? Huh, that's really cool actually. I held onto my copy hoping for this, and now I feel justified. The first game definitely had potential, the way I saw it. The demo sold me on it which tells me there was something really good at its core. In the end, I stopped playing because there wasn't much content and I got bored. Expanded in a sequel, could be good.
 
Yes, this game looks like Halo: Reach. NO, SECTION 8 DOES NOT PLAY LIKE HALO. IT DOESN'T. AT ALL. SERIOUSLY. STOP SAYING IT DOES.

There's no excuse to have a shitty framerate in a trailer. Pre-render it if you have to make it smooth but if I see a trailer with anything but great framerate I pretty much always pass on the game.

The video on other sites isn't choppy like that, so I think the Giant Bomb techs need to re-encode it.

Make a profitable, secondary FPS and you can coast for life! That said, the first game wasn't too bad and the developer carried out an involving PC beta test where they had IRC channels set up to take and address user questions.
