Very cool from a tech standpoint but I just like playing my games with a controller.  Gotta wait and see I guess!

I won't buy this because the creative director is wearing sunglasses indoors and thinks he looks cool.

Take a look at the video between the times 0:17 seconds to around 0:20 seconds and you will see just what kind of misleading bullshit this video is spewing. Take note of the person's right arm and how it relates to the right arm of the character onscreen who is supposed to be mimicking exactly what the person is doing. In real life the man keeps his right arm around the waist area during the roundhouse kick but onscreen the character's right arm is high above his head. Isn't Nata being sold as a revolutionary device that can track every major part of your body in realtime and project that onscreen?

This kind of blatently false advertising is the kind of crap that sold so many Wii consoles. Those commercials for Red Steel that had people performing sword motions that were occuring onscreen gave the impression that they were controlling what was happening onscreen instead of the rehearsed mimicking of prerendered playfootage that really went on. Same shit here. If you go back and check 0:17 to 0:20 you can see Microsoft is attempting to pull the same stinky, dishonest wool over everyone's eyes again. I was fooled with the Wii but not with Natal.

Are you expecting us all to be incredibly flexible people who can kick up to face height without any particular problems? I think not. Whilst I don't enjoy the idea of Natal particularly (I don't really understand the sudden bombardment of real life movement being used to make things happen within a game when it's normally more enjoyable to sit down and play, as well as less tiring), I don't think that Natal will want to be the exact same from real life to what is onscreen, because the realism factor within gaming should not normally be a particular taget for all gaming to be like. Like Just Cause 2, with their physics engine being unrealistic to make more crazy stuff happen.

I agree with Ryan when he says he doesn't believe this technology really exists until he sees it. Its going to be awesome if Natal actually works the way they are telling us its going to work, but I have a really hard time believing any of it. It just seems the technology is not going to be fully realized, or just work terribly when you actually try and play a game. But who knows, we will just have to wait and see.

This will end up like the Wii. A handful of novelty games thats fun to play  when you are drunk and a lot of shitty ones trying to "redefine the gaming expirience" or whatever they are pushing these days.

this will be very nice - in ten years.
high definition realtime bodytracking 3d scanners are still wide research fields - and they are pretty far away from realisation. maybe when parallel computing is a standard we can enjoy this.

@Karmann: I'm pretty sure I heard one of the GB guys say that he has an actual medical problem with his eyes. If that's true, you can't blame him, otherwise I agree.

This it was about 10 seconds into Peter Molyneux doing his typical pie in the sky thing.

U-Force was a hands free system for the NES. it failed because it sucked. this was their description for it:

Introducing U-Force, the revolutionary controller for your Nintendo Entertainment System. Now you can feel the power without touching a thing--making you the controller. It's the most amazing accessory in video game history - and it will change the way you play video games forever. It's the challenge of the future. U-Force. Now nothing comes between you and the game.

sounds exactly like the Natal pitches haha

You're awfully disgruntled over the whole motion control thing, considering the Wii purchase you're traumatized over probably only cost you $300.

Not saying it's bad, but I'm just skeptical.
It's good piece of technology, but it seems a bit gimmicky.
I don't think it will fly with the mainstream games, I see it as a side-peripheral like the Eye-Toy. It's there but only for exclusive games and a steep price point.   If anything I think it would be a hindrance in the future because developers would have to spend more time thinking of ways to implement "Natal" in their game rather than  the game's core-content.

I don't think Kudo ever shaves his beard completely off.  He has his razors set so he can permanently have a 5 o'clock shadow.
