Looks like good fun. I'll probably pick it up and play with a few friends.  
 
I'm only interested in this because of the BioWare tag associated with it, however, if this came from the guys who made Rift I probably wouldn't give it a second glance.

Yep. WoW has 8 entire storylines for each class. Full dialog with 40 novels worth of speech. Companion characters with dialog, and story quests. Your own starship. Space Combat. A light/dark side meter. Choices that effect the way your character progresses. Multiple endings in instances. Giving the players the choice of who controls planets and areas. Giving the players the ability to effect the war effort. World an Galaxy wide story lines. 
 
Yep, total WoW clone.

This game looks so disappointing. Who would have though that Bioware can't deliver. But I guess it doesn't really matter. Guild Wars 2 will be dominating the mmo market by the year 2012 anyway.

I hope I have enough time to put into this. I really, really want to see all of the story stuff and different planets. 
 
But as far as the success of the game, I'm doubtful. WOW is a fucking juggernaut at this point. The problem with entering the MMO space is that there are always huge bugs and balance issues that take serious time to work out. WOW has had years upon years to build and build upon it's content, perfecting it's formula. 
 
If anyone can do it, it's Bioware, and I hope only the best for the people that brought me Mass Effect and KOTOR. But damn, the investment EA is making has got to be tremendous.

I'm really finding a hard time understanding all this negative feedback for this game. It's not the next messiah, to be sure, but it also doesn't look to be anywhere near crap either. The graphic style certainly hasn't hurt the genre in general, with many MMO games having varying degrees of comicstyle graphics (Yes even games like EQ are very cartoony.). And beyond the bright colors, the proportions are still realistic, the movement still seems plausible for a Sci-Fi game and the worlds are very well rendered. I can't complain too much about the style of this game.  
 
Conversely the graphics have steadily been improving in quality throughout development. Compared to early release screens and footage, this is drastically better. The game sounds traditionally Star Wars, which few people ever find beef with, as well as adding in some of the unique nature KoTOR had in the audio department.  
 
Stack that with the feel of Story this game will be putting into the genre. MMO's are nothing evil or destructive to gaming, and one of there few flaws is Long term story. I think this game will finally achieve a real sense of immersiveness with it's story and show us something quite special. Full voice work for every npc, reportedly, and full interactive choices rather than just accept and decline are real improvements.  
 
 
Now think of Bioware. They are an amazing company, with only a few real flops. Also they have experience with the Star Wars franchise AND actually created it's own sub-universe in it. Sure they are new to MMO games, but other than that I just don't see all the negativity. 
 
The only thing so far that makes me slightly disappointed is the animation, which could be better. But that's an issue with all MMO's, and any progress so far is great progress. I still haven't pre-ordered, and I'll wait. But it certainly doesn't deserve a lot of crap right now.

I'm not an MMO guy at all, but to me it looks alright, and they are saying it will have the "dynamic?" or at least unique storylines, I dunno, I don't get all the hate..  It loooks like it will play more or less like a 3rd person action game, with BIOWARE style story beats..   If that's correct it could be good (I think).
 
could someone who is up on MMO's tell me why this won't be as good as I'm being led to believe??

I'm a broken record, but I just wish it was KOTOR III full stop, not KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc... 
I'm going to try the beta to get a feel for it, if it sucks then obviously I ain't touching this, not even with a ten foot barge pole.

As much as I love Bioware, I'm really not impressed by anything we've seen of this game.  The gameplay looks incredibly standard for an MMO and the expanded story/character/single player content are being done better in other MMO's and just makes me wish this was a KotOR III instead.
