Lost Planet 3 Is Avatar, Basically

I have to say that this looks pretty good as did the first trailer. Hopefully this'll end up being a pleasant surprise and even if it sucks I can just continue to ignore the Lost Planet series. Win-win situation right there.

@stimpack: It wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it.

I like the look of the face models. Kind of a change from your typical John Squarejaw. Didn't quite catch the story, though. But I guess I have to shoot something in it's glowy ass, for I am the choosen one.

So wait, are they humans who just came to the planet some time ago or human like natives? Cause with the first one, the overall message is lessened quite a bit, it's less "you're killing our home!" and more "hey, we saw it first!"

I might be in the minority but I'm still excited to play this. I like the Lost Planet series with all its quirks

Played this at E3 last year... Pretty cool - basically Dead Space 3 with Mechs.

On the bright side, I do like the protagonist.

Seriously, though, yeah. Why do they put twists and finale stuff in movie and video game trailers? I forget it was (must have been awesome) but there was a trailer before a movie that I went to see last week and it was obviously scenes from the entire movie and gave away every plot point. It was pretty cliche so I guess the target audience maybe doesn't care? Or the movie people at least assume that?

Is this Lost Planet? Is this Dead Space 3? Is this Avatar? I just don't know anymore.

I am amazed by the amount of hair on the main protagonist's head. Its a flower in the bald desert.

Good lord that is pretty much Avatar isn't it? And Pocahontas I guess. Doesn't matter though, looks well made and eons better than the first two games.

Capcom should've done the alien designs themselves. That spiderbeaksquid thing just looks goofy.

Other than that this trailer makes the game look alright. Not something I'm personally interested in, but it seems ok.

I actually really, really dig the Nic Cage protagonist. You'd think more game designers would echo actors other than Jason Statham when you look at the box office grosses of movies like Killer Elite, Safe, or Parker. He's not the massive draw you might think, at least when he's dropped into middling material.

Not to mention they generally only go for the Statham look and not the actual demeanor of the dude. This guy, however, does seem very Nic Cage-y. Not, like, Bad Lieutenant Nic Cage (though tell me you wouldn't play that game) but not quite half-asleep National Treasure Cage, either.

I could go for this, actually.

Avatar was a mostly successful, absolutely gorgeous also-ran.

Granted, it hit virtually every beat in the great-white-saviour-in-a-foreign-land genre, but it had some character and told a coherent, if well-trodden story.

Had it not been so hyped, and subsequently blown the box-office away, you could guarantee people would:

a. probably not talk about it very much; and

b. probably enjoy watching whenever it was on tv.

One thing it is not, is "absolutely awful"

Actually, what I really want is Nic Cage to be in some video games. Just have a game where he voices every character.

I watched a video of this a few months ago showing a part where you pilot a mech and it looked kinda rubbish, but the trailer does make it look OK actually. The faces look great and it has quite a nice look to it. What Capcom should be doing is bringing E.X Troopers over here. that game is dumb as shit, but a ridiculous amount of arcadey fun.

Looks like it could be fun. Really like the look of it, especially the faces. If the gameplay is good and it has atmosphere, I'm all for it. The story does seem a bit generic, but hey.. VIDEOGAMES! As long as they create a cool world, with an interesting enough cast, I don't mind.

And Avatar wasn't that bad, come on. I thought we had moved on by now.

I beat Dead Space 3 already thank you very much.

I would have preferred the route LP2 was going and have this game be Monster Hunter with guns.

I've never had any interest in Lost Planet series but this trailer hooked me.

I think the character designs are very good. It is not just generic everyman and generic everywoman all over the place. Good on them.

i played half of the first one, and i dont know if ill play this. that was more of a bad movie trailer then it was a game trailer. idk

This is the first time I've been interested in a Lost Planet game. The narrative looks interesting. Yeah, I care about story. Crazy, right?
