Mass Effect 3 Launch Trailer

@Shaanyboi: I was expecting something that at least represents what the game ( I hope still) is. It isn't a huge deal, but it definitely sounds like something that could be used for any given summer blockbuster movie trailer.

The cinematography seems out of place. It's effective at making the game look like an action movie though, yeah.

Did you play the demo? The first half of it was so full of action movie tropes. It was a little awkward and didn't feel right for the series at all. The second half was fine though, which I imagine will be how most of the game is. Mass Effect 2 had a similar problem where the beginning and ending weren't very good.

By the by, if you look for the original Mass Effect launch trailer, it's the same goddamn thing, and that game was RPG as ass. Please stop judging books by their cover, if you aren't interested don't blame it on the trailer. Bioware has had action, quick cuts and sexy times in all three launch trailers. For all we know, Mass Effect 3 could be a tower defense game, because the trailer never gives ANY indication of what the game actually is aside from BAD ACE.

I don't know. I though that "You're already dead" line was awesome and fitting. Different strokes I guess.

I winced a lot waiting for this game because ME2's story was disappointing but this trailer has me amped up all over again!

Expectations be damned, I'm taking Wednesday off!!!

Yeah that was pretty bad. Out of context that's the worst.

But Shephard is fucking while kids are dying, can you get an erection at such a time? I know I would not be able to. It's awkward either way; if Shephard can do it at a time like this that's just weird man, if he can't then the sex is awkward.

One of the kids is even in the trailer! Then - sexy time!

(and it's the gentle type of sexy time, not something fueled by an adrenaline high or anything)

I think this touches on my problem with the way ME turned out. There's not a lot of space for interesting ideas left. In short, it started out as Star Trek, and it wound up as Battle: LA.

This was announced to be a trilogy from the start. It's not like they pulled an Assassin's Creed, here.

The trailer could pretty much just be the crew coming back from a mission, shepard going to his room in the Normandy, putting on the holostereo and dancing to I'm a man by Chicago for 7 minutes... and I'd still buy the game (once they put it on steam).

But yo don't put the kid we are supposed to feel shitty about dying back on Earth in the same trailer as you fucking Ashley again. (that is ostensibly happening in the everyone dying waiting for you to get help). Mixed messages :(

Thats the world we live in. Games are expensive as hell to make, so it makes sense to turn everything you can into a franchise. Much lower risk involved in continuing a franchise than launching a new, untested IP. Its not the most creatively fulfilling route the industry could have taken, but at least there still is an industry.
