Microsoft Walks You Through Xbox One's Friends App

Seems so uselessly inefficient. I guess kids these days don't know how to handle much more information on the screen than just the one info. It is what originally pissed me off about metro in W8. How can you multitask when ONE info-screen (app) takes 100% of the screens real estate? It is just dumb.

Xbox, Start LifeInvader. And now as you can see Microsoft has made themselves completely irrelevant in most markets and also abandoned their core followers. This just looks like Facebook marketed to gamers. I bet there will probably be a way to control all these things by going to microsoftsbigtwitterfacebookmashup.com They might shorten that to mbtfmu.com though. I mean it's like they went out of the way to include the words follow and friend.

You can follow this person and he's now your friend but your not his friend unless he follows you. Your favorites will be a list of specific people you pick, probably of people you are following and that are also following you. So you are following the person that is following you. Meaning this is going in one big circle right down the toilet and you can follow Microsoft down the toilet too if you get an Xbox!

That might be a bit harsh for the Xbox lovers out there. I do apologize if you didn't find that funny and I am not saying Steam or Sony is any better. Microsoft just seems to really be losing serious ground in most markets now days. As someone who grew up with Windows and DOS and explored outside of those confines I am honestly satisfied to see Microsoft finally starting to see that they didn't keep up with the markets while they were too busy pointing fingers and looking down on everyone.

They lost their core followers by making a follow feature? The only people who care about X1 are their core followers.

I don't know why, but I always get a great kick out of the minutia and UI crap when new systems are released. LEMME SEE THOSE NEW MENUS

Maybe you're late to the party, but basically everything has had Facebook and Twitter for years now, including this website.

Can't help it, my brain just starts reacting like that every time I see anything post-Windows 8 from microsoft. Just a personal preference but they definitely seem to be doing the opposite of anything I like

I don't use Windows 8, nor have I seen much of Metro, but I do like Flat UI design. This however, does not take advantage of color use. The black border on selected boxes? UGLY.

I like the aesthetic but I instantly feel overwhelmed by what they're showing here.

Not sure if it's through association to the 360 dash, but I just realised I hate the look and the sounds of the xbox dashboard.

This somehow looks to clean and empty for my taste while at the same time it is somehow confusingly organized with all the split windows and stuff..

and Metro/Modern continues to look disgusting on anything but phones & tablets.

I think this looks really cool. Potentially easier to find more people to play with. Also nice to be able to filter your favorites that you play with most.

Featurewise this all looks great, but that interface... I mean what the hell were they thinking? This looks like a tablet-interface, why does the giant screen only contain 3 or 4 massive icons. It doesn't make any damn sense.

Aside from the terrible UI I dont see anything wrong with this.

That probably has more to do with streaming information off the internet than the power of the console.

I'm liking the look of the new avatars.
It's reminding me of all the weird gamer pictures at the 360's launch, except now they seem to be fully poseable like avatars currently are.

As for the rest of the UI, it looks fine, but a bit basic... and not basic in the good, minimalist way... just basic.
