Mortal Kombat Gets Real?

This may never turn into anything palpable, but is already one of the best things MK I've ever seen.
 
I'm curious to see how they tie in the other characters.

Has to be a new movie. Jeri Ryan is too big a name to do a live action teaser trailer for a videogame.

I hate these remakes and comic-book adaptations.  "Oh, they said that guy's name!", "Hey, remember the time they used to say that?!"...  Come up with somethin' original, please...

If this is a movie then it might be awesome, if it's a game there's no telling. I was hoping that instead of who was getting all the info & handcuffed was Ed Boon instead. Might have made the video a little more surreal to match the game/movie.

Kinda don't want a "realistic" reboot for the game, so I hope this isn't for MK9. But, whatever. More Mortal Kombat anything is good enough for me.

AWESOME, though Reptile storyline was badass, Baraka's was more the what the fuck I don't know that I like this "new" Baraka sort of thing.  Though I guess killing Johny Cage is a plus in this new Baraka's column.  Please go for a Hostel vibe, anything less and this movie will likely be another lame fighting game movie.

maybe this is a trailer for a movie that is the rebooting of the franchise.

Looks like Ed Boone is taking the Christopher Nolan approach to the reboot. I welcome it with open arms...and an uppercut.

I didn't really know what to expect from a video relating to MK, other than to be disappointed.  Surprisingly though, this was pretty awesome.  Whether it's for MK9 or if it's a reboot of the series, or if it's just for a movie, this actually had what felt like heart and soul behind it. 
 
I think, strangely, for most video games, taking established stuff and trying to work in actual 'real world' explanations for things that really don't need explanations comes off as being awful. However, for this, everything is so far over the top and so crazy and for a series that's so far over the top and crazy, that I think this really actually could work for it.

Good to see that they're putting more thought into this than the previous (the first was decent, the second was meh).  Regardless, many people look to be on board.

I think it's pretty obvious that this is for Mortal Kombat 9. Movies are never announced alongside 7 minute clips so the rumors that this is the new Mortal Kombat movie are kind of ridiculous. Also, we would have heard about the movie beginning in development if they had filmed this much.

There is no way this isn't a movie. I'm completely convinced this isn't a game. And it looks like a pretty kickass movie as well (though with the usual video-game cliches)

The whole Reptile angle of having Harlequin Ichthyosis is creepy if you've ever seen people with the actual condition - I'd resist google image searching if if at all possible.

I never really liked the games, but the movies were silly campy fun. This looks cool.
