PAX East 2012: Giant Bomb Panel

The Q&A wasn't that bad this time; there were a few decently witty people out there. I would rather be happy with that than the really shitty ones that happened in the past.

I kind of laughed when nobody responded to the Reckoning DLC, but then I got sad. I just wish Rich could drop everything and Join GB, or at least go back to CBS.

Sometimes this community is full of fucking assholes. You really don't need to comment on a video just to complain about Alex.

It looked like Alex was nervous as hell, awkward laughs while looking to the rest of the guys to see if they were laughing too, he tries to too hard to funny by means of crude remarks to people, even while others are still talking. Maybe he didn't mean it but all his attempts of humor came over as rude and out of place.

Why not? And why does that make people assholes? The video only just went up so they are pretty genuine responses to the content. He came off horribly in this video, and was basically annoying instead of entertaining.

Even if you don't agree, the comments are the perfect place for dissatisfaction with the content.

@AdMordem: Because there's a big difference between criticism and bitching. A lot of these comments are people just complaining because they find Alex annoying. That's not criticism of content, that's criticism of a person. That's the stuff I hate about this community. It's no different than the people that start threads to complain about Patrick - nothing about it is constructive. Responding to the content of the panel or stuff that happened is one thing, and I don't disagree that some of the stuff was sub-par from their normal standard - however, when people boil it down to comments like "oh god, Alex's voice is so annoying" then that is being an asshole.

Cool panel, great watch, aside from Alex... What's with the hostile vibe dude? There's nothing more cringe-worthy than watching someone who is uncomfortable try to make up for it by being a loudmouth. If you don't want to talk, pull a Brad and just keep quiet.

Not enough to spoil the panel or anything. Watched the whole thing and found myself frequently bursting out laughing. Nice to see a truly "UNCUT LIVE AND RAWWWWWWWW" type thing from the guys.

So there I was, sitting at my computer kinda bored and I think maybe I should just swing by the big bomb. And what do you know: there it is. The Pax 2012 panel!

I couldn't make it 10 minutes before I had to turn it off. Something has to be done about Alex at these things.

I was so happy to have been responsible for the Lang Zone and the guys were thankful for my hand in starting it. I'll put up the full story and some great videos on the site soon but I just want people to know that my bag with the book in it was lost/stolen at the Harmonix booth :(.

I don't know if anyone else gets this... but seeing Rich Gallup on a podcast is SURREAL for me.

The Hotspot was the first podcast I ever listened to, and now I'm a huge podcast guy. He was a GREAT show host, I saw him twice a week every week, and then that just STOPPED DEAD. So seeing him being the same person 5 years later is like seeing a TV character just sittin around in real life. Like if you saw Jerry Seinfeld on an airplane in real life. When he got on stage I felt like he just stepped out of a Futurama chryogenic freezing pod from years ago, it felt SO WEIRD. Like WHAT!

Maybe it's just cos I listened to that HotSpot Best Of from like 2005 recently, I dunno. I think in my head I've remembered him as being a fictional... like a cartoon character or something.

The Alex hating I can understand, but Patrick? No clue why that guy gets such a bad rep the community here. Granted I haven't been about for very long so maybe I'm missing something but the guy seems legitimately knowledgeable about games and gaming and is capable of talking about them descriptively, concisely and all without having a nasty attitude.

This argument is as old as time itself, and still just as invalid. Otherwise all of our movie and food critics would be Oscar winning directors and 5 star chefs.

Still, I feel that the hate towards these guys is unjustified. Patrick seems like a cool guy, and he was definitely able to win the crowd over at this panel, and while Alex is a bit awkward here, I do appreciate his writing.
