I don't really understand why so many Japanese games have English words in the UI. Is it not possible to convey the concept of "Burst" in Japanese characters?

This is like the third time I've dumped this onto this site between a few other thread, but I subtitled this trailer earlier today, in case anybody wants to know what's actually going on without getting a Japanese degree.

Oh man, I hope this includes more story too. I love P4:A but I burned out on it because i was either winning too easily or getting stomped, so I'd want story along with these new characters.

I don't really like Junpei, but he looks fun to play, so I might pick him up.

This Sho guy... either he is the big bad in this game, and the WAY open ending of P4:A will get closed up. Or, this is a Persona 5 thing. I liked what went on with Elizabeth and the Shadow Ops/Investigation Team at the end of P4:A and I really wanted that to become a full blown jrpg, with Elizabeth as the Main Character. But I trust Atlus and I'm excited to see what happens with the world of Persona.

can't wait! It would only be better if they released on PC as well. ASW really nailed it. What a lineup they have now: Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma, the upcoming Guilty Gear Xrd and this one. Couldn't ask for more really (except for the PC port that is).

It is a parody. It's a parody of Japanese Wrestling promos, in particular New Japan Pro Wrestling's 'G1 Climax' tournament series, hence 'P1 Climax'

There is some reasonable speculation that Sho Minazuki is related to (or possibly the young version of) Master Daidara, the blacksmith in Persona 4. They both have red hair and a cross-shaped scar on their faces, and they even wear their t-shirts in a similar way (unbuttoned at the top). The story synopsis mentions that Inaba is being plagued by space-time disturbances (among other problems), so he could feasibly travel to the future to fight.

I'll be completely honest. I giggle whenever I hear 'climax' in a Japanese sentence. it just seems so outta place.

I don't know if you guys didn't know they (Atlus Japan) also put another Persona site with 3 banners blank with these cities listed (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sendai and Sapporo). It's going to be unveiled November 24th.

The Persona 3 Movie comes out November 23rd so it might have something to do with one of the announcements.

@617_jbug: it's already announced so I don't think it'll be one of the three boxes but whatever that might be will be announced right after the movie. Nice timing. Could it be Persona 5 + the new P4 Arena for consoles + ??? There is a third one, that's what surprises me.

... I wonder if I'll pick this one up or not. I never felt inclined towards the original P4-A as side-stories are not my thing, but I'm in the mood for a new fighting game.

Being a big fan of Giant Bomb I feel a bit guilty when I continue not caring in the slightest about Persona 4 each time some news regarding the game pops up

I just hope they handle the story mode a little better. I would never have bought Persona 4 Arena if I knew beforehand that it ends in a cliffhanger.

Are they going to write another 10-hour interactive novel? I couldn't be arsed to learn an airdash-style fighting game that looked like poop, but the story mode really got to me.

The name they chose is amazing. I don't really care about more Persona 3 characters, but if it has a deeper story mode this time, then I am still in.

Okay okay....I get your point. In P3 I refused to level up Ken, Koro or Shinji. I saw his death coming from a mile away when the character was kind of pointless in battle.

True enough...however Shinji brought a bus stop sign into battle...that was pretty rad.

@pepsiman: not that it matters in anyway but I think you did a pretty good job. Watched out of curiosity and some parts I thought 'that's a pretty clever way of put it in English AND keep the tone'. I was going to point out something but was obviously distraction and someone had pointed it already. So uh... nice job? :p

@edsone: It's a weird trailer to translate all around. I don't know if you speak Japanese, but suffice it to say that some of the announcer's jokes are hard to make work well outside the original language. In a literal sense, sure, it's easy enough. "Yukari's fury makes kids cry and she dresses all gaudy" and "Junpei is ranked AAA for being dumb and TTT [pronounced like his little "dun dun dun duh!" level up cheer in P3 in Japanese] for being laid back." But that bores me as a writer and I feel like my obligation is indeed to worry more about maintaining consistent tone rather than consistent semantics in situations like that, so I'll definitely take liberties to make the product as a whole more entertaining if it means it better reflects what I felt like when I watched it in Japanese. There are lines in there I'm not especially proud of and wish I had other translators nearby to bounce ideas off like I would for my professional work, but when people like you tell me that they at least found parts of it amusing, I consider that enough of a victory. Ultimately it constitutes just outright rewriting lines in places, which is certainly not a universally appreciated approach to Japanese translation, so I remain curious to how Atlus USA will handle this stuff when the game is inevitably handed off to them. They went for a surprisingly literal route in Arena when dealing with a lot of situations like the announcer, which I found disappointing, but I suppose I'm in no position to complain when I don't even technically need their work to enjoy their parent company's games anyway.
