Man, I would buy a Wii immediately. Sadly, when interviewed, the creator said that the series is called POCKET monsters for a reason. I guess you would get less done in the game if it had you anchored home. (Ev training and such.)

So just because on series couldn't handle an overhaul no other series can have one... tons of series have had overhauls and have turned out good or better than the original like TF2 with art style or Fallout from and overhead game to a first person.

6 pokemans in the same arena at once, reminds me of the last vacation to that resort in Cancun with all the booze everywhere. I'm guessing a few more pokeman games & eventually the developers will shrug & give up so you just have everyone's pokemans in the arena at the same time for a last pokeman standing thing. 
 
Surprised that the black/white in the voice over isn't also in Japanese.

No, overhauls can sometimes be a good thing, but that's really the case when a previous system is dated or broken.  For Pokémon, that's not exactly the case as one of the reasons it sells so much is because many people still enjoy that gameplay mechanic.  Changing that, in this case, would put Pokémon Black/White in a very similar situation as FFXIII, with people complaining about stuff like the lack of towns.  It really should be used when necessary. 
 
Pokémon's mechanic is relatively stale, yes, but that doesn't need to be solved with a complete overhaul.  The streamlining they've done with battles and with the menus can make things feel fresh and additions such as triple battles can also freshen things up.  Trashing everything that makes Pokémon Pokémon and starting from the beginning is not a good idea for the game, nor for the fanbase.  If you really want something different in regards to Pokémon, there are the spin-off games like Mystery Dungeon or Ranger that you can enjoy instead.

@FluxWaveZ: Yes this game will sell a boat load even though its not an overhaul, hell I'm probably going to buy it. As for your statement of everyone enjoying the mechanic I'm not quite sure. A lot of friends and forum posts tell me that people buy the Pokemon games just cause, not because they are in love with the series and never want the mechanics to be changed they just buy it for the sake of coming back to something familiar ( easy to grasp battles, light rpg mechanics, and a stupid story). Will they ever change the series? Probably not since they sell millions making minor updates. Should they change it around? In my opinion yes, I hate people who buy Madden every year because EA is ripping them off yet Nintendo is starting to do the same with these DS games. Now the gamecube games they made those were steps in the right direction. An interesting story ( for a Pokemon game:P) and new mechanics ( shadow pokemon and purifying them). Were they perfect? No, most of the interface was sluggish and battles dragged on but I admired them for taking a risk and they don't seem to be taking any now.

Back in my day a Pokemon battle was just about a man and his Pokemon fighting another man and his Pokemon. Dam kids these days can't be happy with that? Now they gotta fight three at a time! Dam whipper snappers!

@RE_Player92: Well, I probably phrased that improperly.  I wouldn't say everyone enjoys the mechanic, but would mean exactly what you said: it's a familiar concept to grasp.  It's similar with every main game: start with one of 3 pokémon, face your rival who chooses the opposite in type to yours, acquire poké balls, make a team... etc.  It's kind of the same reason that those 2D Mario games still sell well except those feel fresh because of the simpleness of the 2D platforming genre. 
 
But I don't think that those GameCube Pokémon games were necessarily going in the right direction...  Maybe to really make it feel fresh but, deep down, I was just wishing Pokémon Coliseum turned out to be one of the mainline handheld games, just on console with pretty visuals.  It didn't and that disappointed me.  Maybe the actual game also had clumsily developed mechanics, as you said, and that's why I disliked it.

I haven't played a pokemon game since Red back on the gameboy and it still looks exactly the same. I guess that when you sell millions without doing very much why change things.

What is so bad about having a triple battle? I think Pokemon in general is requiring you to think about your parties for a change and how the complement one another, it's a hint of stratagy. I like that. So far I like everything they've shown.

This clip is blowing my mind. Aside from a few things, like 'its now in 3D' and 'TRIPLE POKEMON BATTLES?!', I have no idea what the hell is going on. Looks like I'm going to have to check this out in English when it eventuates, even if its just for 15 minutes, just to understand what's going on.

Yeah I guess us kids back in the late 90's just had to "grow up". The Pokemon games since have been just too simple and easy, lacking any sort of major innovation. While this new triple battle system is cool it is still not enough for me. I want them to completely e"RAT"icate the turn based system if possible.
