Holy crap man that grass and such looks fantastic.

Oh hey.

Something to ensure I get even less sleep than I shoulda

lol, I love how people have to constantly remind Brad to explain exactly what the hell he is doing in almost every quick look.

Sadly, I think this game looks boring which is a shame. I think this time period needs better action games.

Also...when was Crysis interesting? Crysis 1 was never really that great of a game but merely a great looking game. I found the game to be broken with its worse than terrible enemy AI and scripting. Crysis 2 did more interesting thing with the powers but the level design turned it into just another shooter.

Best Kinect game ever?!

Looks boring.

Posted by MaFoLu

Halfway through the game they still tell you to use the right stick to look around? That's stupid.

Edited by AMyggen

Looks very pretty, but boring. As expected, really. A mediocre game I'd probably be willing to buy for $20, but not at full price.

And micro transactions in a full priced game? Fuck that. Most of the launch games on the Xbone seem to have micro transactions, even at full price. A sign of things to come I guess. I'm not against a F2P game with micro transaction if it's done the right way, but retail games with that shit can fuck off. I hope there's some kind of consumer backlash against this bullshit.

Welcome to the next generation of hand holding.

So are both Sony and Microsoft now using shopping bag icons?

Also, those are some pretty laid back barbarians only attacking one at a time even though they could probably overwhelm that dude if they wanted to when they're 5+.. oh video games.

Posted by Least100Seraphs

I'd love to hear the GB crew talk about Ryse, its embargo status, the way in which MS used their position to control the flow of information (reviews predominantly) and basically deceive customers.

@pezen: they trained with the bad guys from assassins Creed

Posted by Wogglebeast

Shame they couldn't think of anything interesting to do with the gameplay, I wonder how well it will sell as a flavourless tech demo.

Fairly certain that it was a click in the stick to auto-snap to some visual thing they want you to say, such as in Gears of War.

I'd be more worried about why when Brad cut people's limbs off, they didn't bleed. Now that's stupid.

Why does every game set in ancient Rome have to be a hack-and-slash?

You'd be surprised how little blood comes out of a severed arm. It's not like popping a balloon, more like oozing sausage.

Also, this game looks boring.

Edited by parentalcon

So this is pretty much the Xbox's equivalent of Knack...except it looks pretty.

Posted by AlexGBRO

witch is better knack or rise?

(no microtranzactions vs microtranzactions)

Posted by AlexGBRO

@mbdoeden: if you look in the video it is always the same arm and the same leg

also i think the you can cut arm/leg to the guys with no shields

Posted by reelife

You guys might've forgotten that this was a Kinect game from the start.

Not even.

At first I thought "This game looks pretty good". Then about 20 minutes in, I got tired of watching it.

I still think Marius his brother is called Luigius though, you can recognize him by the green cloth.

I don't understand why Brad gives this game so many excuses. It looks bad(even though it's pretty). Actually, as a whole, I feel like the X1 exclusives have been getting more of a free ride in terms of general reception through the media(though not completely).

I came here to make that exact goddamned joke. Son of a bitch.

Brad walks up to item, prompt to pick up collectible comes on screen, Brad walks away

Anyone play 'Bladestorm'? early X360 / PS3 game.

I think this combat system couched in that sorta campaign / progression mechanic would be pretty sweet.

Still interested in whats here though, will pick Ryse up at some point.

Idk, this seems like a totally fine game that would be fun to rent.

At the time, a lot of people liked the game, at least the first 2/3 of it. I remember really liking it when it was released: It looked fantastic, it was open world-ish and had interesting gameplay ideas with the suit etc. I'm not sure if it still holds up, but my impression was that most people thought it was a good game, not just a good technical demo.

That's not to say that Crytech in general makes good games, they don't. Ryse has a low 3/5 written all over it.

Says it's too easy. Sucks anyway.

What is Brad's obsession with rolling/jumping constantly in combat?

I like the Met-roman upgrade screen.

Holy. Shit.

Posted by dreamtheateropeth

Brad is really coming up with excuses for this terrible game.

Posted by face15

Everyone on the Quick Look seemed really really negative on the game except Brad who was actually playing it and telling them that it is okay. It doesn't look very interesting but it definately could be worse and doesn't seem like it deserves the negativity it gets here.

Edited by Sammo21

@amyggen: I have played that game 3-4 times over the course of building new PCs and getting a laptop from around the time it came out through around Feb or March of this year. I never really found much interest in and the power use came off more as a tech demo than anything because of the level design, AI, pacing, and story progression. I found Far Cry 1 to be a much better game in comparison.

Yes Jeff it was serious, they went from Roman Empire, to Catholic Empire, to what we now call the "West". Those people know their shit went it comes to power.

Because you have to kill people in games and they didn't have guns, the alternative would be an strangulation sim, and we don't have that tech yet.

This game isn't very historically accurate. I remember reading a comment by the developer that said they weren't making it accurate, but to play into what people's perceptions of ancient Rome are.

Something that throws me off is that the 'barbarians' lead by Boudica in Britain somehow have elephants in their army which were characteristic of the armies of Carthage from Northern Africa whom were conquered about 200 years prior to Boudica.
