lol, I love how people have to constantly remind Brad to explain exactly what the hell he is doing in almost every quick look.

Sadly, I think this game looks boring which is a shame. I think this time period needs better action games.

Also...when was Crysis interesting? Crysis 1 was never really that great of a game but merely a great looking game. I found the game to be broken with its worse than terrible enemy AI and scripting. Crysis 2 did more interesting thing with the powers but the level design turned it into just another shooter.

Looks very pretty, but boring. As expected, really. A mediocre game I'd probably be willing to buy for $20, but not at full price.

And micro transactions in a full priced game? Fuck that. Most of the launch games on the Xbone seem to have micro transactions, even at full price. A sign of things to come I guess. I'm not against a F2P game with micro transaction if it's done the right way, but retail games with that shit can fuck off. I hope there's some kind of consumer backlash against this bullshit.

I'd love to hear the GB crew talk about Ryse, its embargo status, the way in which MS used their position to control the flow of information (reviews predominantly) and basically deceive customers.

At first I thought "This game looks pretty good". Then about 20 minutes in, I got tired of watching it.

I still think Marius his brother is called Luigius though, you can recognize him by the green cloth.

I don't understand why Brad gives this game so many excuses. It looks bad(even though it's pretty). Actually, as a whole, I feel like the X1 exclusives have been getting more of a free ride in terms of general reception through the media(though not completely).

I think this combat system couched in that sorta campaign / progression mechanic would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, this seems perfect for rental.

At the time, a lot of people liked the game, at least the first 2/3 of it. I remember really liking it when it was released: It looked fantastic, it was open world-ish and had interesting gameplay ideas with the suit etc. I'm not sure if it still holds up, but my impression was that most people thought it was a good game, not just a good technical demo.

That's not to say that Crytech in general makes good games, they don't. Ryse has a low 3/5 written all over it.

Brad is really coming up with excuses for this terrible game.

Everyone on the Quick Look seemed really really negative on the game except Brad who was actually playing it and telling them that it is okay. It doesn't look very interesting but it definately could be worse and doesn't seem like it deserves the negativity it gets here.

@amyggen: I have played that game 3-4 times over the course of building new PCs and getting a laptop from around the time it came out through around Feb or March of this year. I never really found much interest in and the power use came off more as a tech demo than anything because of the level design, AI, pacing, and story progression. I found Far Cry 1 to be a much better game in comparison.

Yes Jeff it was serious, they went from Roman Empire, to Catholic Empire, to what we now call the "West". Those people know their shit went it comes to power.

This game isn't very historically accurate. I remember reading a comment by the developer that said they weren't making it accurate, but to play into what people's perceptions of ancient Rome are.

Something that throws me off is that the 'barbarians' lead by Boudica in Britain somehow have elephants in their army which were characteristic of the armies of Carthage from Northern Africa whom were conquered about 200 years prior to Boudica.
