I'm both frustrated and also kinda happy that they didn't show the intro sequence. I should explain.

When I originally got this game and installed it (when it was new), the intro didn't play for me. It just dumped me right into the game, with no context, so the first thing I saw was basically what you see at the start of this video. Very confusing to start the game in a bed and have some alien start discussing all that crap, and Cutter complaining about a probe and his missing team.

It was some glitch, because the game installer is supposed to play the intro immediately after installing. The thing is, the video sets up the entire story and is actually, as far as 90s rendered game intro cutscenes go, pretty damn good.

Fantastic stuff! The golden moment at 53:50 is defo up there as one of the best. Also, the game looks really interesting. A proper modern remake of this would be interesting.

Ehmm seem's like you were missing the CGI Intro, where he was picked up from a bar to lead these researcher to this place, it's not much of a intro, but it explained how he got where he is at the start of the game.

Also, the part that's kind of bothering me is that when the text is extending below the edge of the screen, instead of figuring out what key makes it scroll down, Dave just skips the text because he can't see the subtitles. Also, it's delightful that Vinny and Dave expect that some random coloured symbol on the minimap will actually be an objective marker, despite the fact that this game is ABSOLUTELY from the era that didn't tell you shit.

Expecting every game to have a "go here" marker has really only been a thing for the past decade at most (and even then, primarily on console games), and this game is older than that.

Oh, this game is totally awesome, I played it back in 1999. This game was really ambitious for the time, it took me a quite some time to finish it. One of my favourite games as you would know when you see my nickname. :)

Man i loved this game when it game out.

Fun fact:

In the german Version of Outcast, Cutter Slade was dubbed by the same guy that usually does the dubbing for Bruce Willis. This made this game even better. Also, Bruce Willis was huge the time this game came out.

I remember after the DP endurance run, I only knew or cared about the 4 main bomb crew. Quicklook with dave? drew? who? Pass. I've of course come around since then and yes, that was the most amazing 3 seconds of giantbomb ever.

It's a shame they didn't explore much. The water area was pretty damn rad back in the day.

Still, amazing stuff here.

LA Noire's facial animation has nothing on this game!

This engine used for Outcast was quite revolutionary for its day. If I remember correctly, it uses a form of ray casting for the landscape geometry & texture mapped polygons for everything else. The thing that made this even more unique was everything ran off the software, as opposed to hardware/video card. You needed a decent CPU back in the day to run this well. My first Pentium III was bought to play this game properly. It ate through my Pentium II and left it a smoldering pile of scrap metal. Great technology for its time.

True, that DC-10 quick look springs to mind, and yeah the Dragonball Z one. The Phantasmagoria rape scene is also amazing (sounded weird). What about that episode of the Endurance Run where they go on that trip and there's nosebleeds and nightclubs? Remember that being awesome.
