Hey @alex , did you not see that the game is now coming out August 27 or are you rounding up? Not meaning to be a dick, apparently the announcement was thrown in with the info about these challenges so I'm genuinely curious.

It seems odd that such info wasn't widely announced.

Pretty cool for a free thing. Somewhat soothes the pain of the delay.

Would be a smart idea for Nintendo to show off some unique Gamepad features during their E3 press conference...

Not having the actual copy of Rayman Legends in homes right now, since it is complete for Wii U, still sucks. With that said, these free challenges is a nice peace offering. I'm glad Ubisoft did something like this instead of something half-assed and thrown together poorly.

I'm not calling him out. I mean, I even specifically said I'm not being a dick and was genuinely curious if he hadn't seen the info as Ubisoft seems to have kinda tossed it out there. I don't know if it could have been more clear.

And the story I originally saw on it has been updated with the new date, I hadn't seen that at the time.

They've said they won't be doing an E3 conference this year.

Actual gameplay? Nice. I was expecting some sort of half-assed, Pub Games-esque release.

It'd be cool if the characters you can unlock would carry over to the main game.

This is thing is awesome, if you have a Wii U you really should play this.

They will be doing a ton of Nintendo Directs though, along with smaller events focused on talking to retailers/media etc.

I am very disappointed. Right now the only things in the App are the same 3 levels that were in the demo and 2 Murphy challenges. Apparently they cycle on a daily and weekly basis. I have no interest in waiting, if I'm going to wait I'll wait for the full game.

That said they have put in Screen Mirroring which hey, gives me a reason to consider the Wii U version. Then again 360 version probably doesn't have the Murphy bits, so that's a huge plus.

it's hard to be mad at Ubisoft when they're the only publisher backing the system with ALL their major games this year.

I downloaded this earlier, challenges are awesome and I hope this functionality lives on in the retail game

I'm also super fucking curious how the game is even going to work on any non wii u versions. the Murphy stuff seems pretty built into a lot of the levels and is actually kind of fun on the two murphy levels when you got 5 people playing

I want to say Ubisoft have said that the Murfy levels will be exclusive to the Wii U, but I'm not sure if that actually happened or not. :P

If they don't make it into the 360/PS3 versions of the game I wouldn't be surprised to see the Murfy stuff make its way into an iOS/Android app.

Rotating the challenges is a good solution to keeping a critical mass of competing scores. If you chucked up every stage at once the sadly-not-that-large user base would be diluted to the point of it being useless.

Must say, impressed by the leaderboard implementation in it.

@budgietheii: Don't care about leaderboards. Never do. Would rather be able to play all the content in the package day 1 and get it all over and done with so I can forget it about it by next week when Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon comes out and I play that for a bit.

I like free stuff, but I am not spending money on a Wii U to get said free stuff.

@MeatSim It's not really meant to sell the Wii U. It's for people affected by the delay, i.e. those who already own a Wii U.

I think this is a really cool idea, I just hope it doesn't backfire and make people say, "well that was a good taste of Rayman, I don't need to buy the full retail title."

Being able to joyously pop those bubbles on my gamepad actually sold me on the game, lol.
