That's not a bad idea.  The characters in modnation racer were never anything special, the levels and carts were.  Combining these two similar IP's seems like a novel idea.  Just make sure it's a Little Big Planet game with Mod nation thrown in and it will be a hit, not the other way around.

It looks a little more interesting than MNR mechanically and aesthetically, but I kind of wish they just combined this model into a LBP3.

Hopefully Stephen Fry will continue to provide helpful hints. (Maybe one day they'll get Hugh Laurie as well to complete the Fry & Laurie comedy team.)

Day 1 buy for me. Modnation on PS3 is amazing and I still play it to this day. I hope you can use the costumes you already bought with LBP 1 and 2.

If the load times are better than ModNation Racers, then this is a day one buy for me. Otherwise, no thanks.

@reelife: I find myself asking that question a lot these days. At this point I'm just hoping the Vita version of the regular LBP is any good.

Wow. That actually looks really cool. Too bad none of the people I would have played this type of game with back in the Mario Kart/ Diddy Kong Racing days are into anything like this anymore. I'd really like to check this out.

Makes sense. Modnation Racers wasn't that successful, so use a more recognizable brand to make a spiritual successor to Racers. Plus, the art style is superior to what Modnation had. This makes a lot of sense. Fairly excited, I kind of liked Modnation. Still, a bigger fan of LBP as a franchise.

Why do Sony first party kart racers have AWFUL titles? I mean feces covered dick titles which easily cut sales in half. First Modnation Racers: Hey brah, want to come over and play some goddamn Modnation Racers? Yeah, not going to happen. And now Little Big Planet Karting. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it? I mean, could you cram more syllables into one title? Shitty in every way. Perhaps Little Big Racer would have been easier to digest than that asspiss of a title.

So ModNation Racers is officially dead? :(

On the bright side it looks like Sony is pushing Sackboy to be the official PlayStation mascot.

hmm thinking about it now actually makes it sound kinda cool :D

Hopefully this will fix the weakest part of mod nation racers-- the racing.

Well, at least they're making it officially what everyone considered Modnation Racers to be- Little Big Kart Racing. Hopefully it's a good follow up- there's a lot to improve upon.

This looks like the PS3's Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts (with the creation focused on the tracks rather than the vehicles).

Was this whole game created in LittleBigPlanet 2's editor?

The DLC possibilities are endless!

Modnation Racers had THE BEST GOD DAMN CUSTOMIZATION STUFF!!! So I guess that's gone.
 
It's kinda sad that someone took these guys aside and said "Hey that was a pretty good game, now if you could just make it again but with a franchise that's already selling, that'd be great".

Good idea. Take the idea and the brand, not just the idea. Seems even Zynga is getting this now...

This! I ended up returning ModNation Racers just because I didn't feel like spending more time on a loading screen than on the race itself (which kind of makes me sad; it was a good game, really)
