Setting the Stage for Operation Flashpoint: Red River

How to make Operation Flashpoint awesome: 
 
Step 1: Play co-op. 
Step 2: Have your friend equip his knife. 
Step 3: Have him run with it while staring straight at the ground. 
Step 4: Then at the sky. 
Step 5: Repeat step 3 and 4 until you choke from laughter. 
 
Sadly, that was all that was actually amusing with the game.

Operation Flashpoint was long long dead, it died the first time it left for the first Xbox. Jebus help you if you don't know this but, Arma/Arma 2 are the real successor to Operation Flashpoint, don't bother with this Codemasters junk.

Unless when I put in Dragon Rising today and a patch shows up that actually makes it into a playable game there will be no way in hell I'll consider buying this.

I liked the live action trailer better. 

Doesn't look as high quality graphically as I thought, isn't this series trying to compete with Arma? Or is this just another same ol' same ol military shooter, because I'm on overload and will only be buying something labeled Call of Duty or Battlefield.

See, I was really burned by Dragon Rising, so I'm very hesitant to give this a chance. Who knows, maybe they'll get it right the second time, but unless they provide for some replayability and (gosh!) actual AI in the enemies this time, I'll stick to ArmAII...

Like someone else said, they're probably still too afraid to actually do this thing the way it's supposed to be done. Full on hardcore realism. The people who give a fuck about the OFP and ArmA franchise are people who also play stuff like DCS: Black Shark and who get a semi thinking about no health bars, no crosshair and basically no HUD. And who somewhat loathe "realistic" shooters like CODBLOPS and stuff like that. 
 
There's Hardcore, and then there's HARD ASS CORE. 
To their defense, gunplay in dragon rising was pretty decent. Was some good ranged stuff there, but the game was just so stripped down and crappy. If they'll make a map editor and modding tools and stuff for this, and dedicated servers, and super realism.... They'll launch at a brilliant time for this kind of game. The latest ArmA 2 expansion pack will then be more than a year old, and some people might be tempted to play this until the next ArmA game.

Even for a teaser this is kinda sucky without telling anything but a general timeframe. Ever since that one QL of Buzz! Quiz World I keep thinking of this series as Operation Fashpoint.

Dragon Rising was rally bad I did not like it so my faith in this franchise is not very strong, I hope they redeem themselves with this one.
