Ooh, zombies.

Posted by BigDaddy81

I can honestly say without hyperbole that this was the fucking dumbest game trailer I have ever seen.

This is off the hizzi

If they can make a game that is exactly like DayZ except technically adept and maybe slightly more balanced towards fun, I'll be all over it.

Can't say I'm all that intrigued by this game, but at least SOE have done a decent job with pretty sane models for free to play games in the past.

Posted by Stimpack

I wouldn't say it's the worst trailer I've seen, but it's pretty bad.

That said, I'm pretty excited for it. So long as the ideas are properly executed, and it's not a janky mess. I don't mind zombies. There's been a lot of zombie stuff out there recently, but the vast majority of that stuff is hot garbage.

Surprised we got to 2014 before the 'H1Z1' pun was made.

Posted by Spitznock

More zombies, huh. Add this to the ever-expanding list of zombie games I'll never play.

Posted by Humanity

This could not be a worse trailer in terms of getting people interested in the product.

Posted by flasaltine

That zombie running out looked like shit. That was funny though.

Edited by Itwongo

Robots are the real threat. Always have been

Posted by darkjester74

Man, that trailer was awful. Also enough with the zombies already...

Posted by Ghost_Cat

Is it just me, or is the trailer dark as hell? I could barely see anything.

Posted by L33T_HAXOR

That was waaaaayyy too much build up for that one low-poly midget zombie

Edited by TotalHell

That was extremely silly.

Posted by DG187

I was like "Aight, aight, zombies be creepin, iz cool, iz cool?" but when the last zombie started running at the screen I was all like "Bish, dis iz sum bullshiet aninamations, na'mean?"

Great....a "free to play" zombie game....it's exactly what I wanted....how'd you know?

Posted by Budwyzer

At the very worst, it's a free zombie game that I will download for free, try it, and say "yep, I knew this was going to suck, and now back to DCUO"

Posted by elko84

Ooook. For a second there, when the music started to come in, I almost expected the THX jingle.

Edited by ParadoxControl

@bigdaddy81: Honestly the way it should have ended is with another player killing him. The sound rises, the tension builds, and then you hear someone shout "HEY OVER HERE!", the player turns quick, you get a glimpse of a rifle pointed at his face, and then BANG! and the tagline would be "Sometimes your biggest threat might just be your neighbor."

Or the tagline could be "You don't need to out run the zombies..." "... You just need to out run your friends."

I can get behind that. As much as I want to get into DayZ, I always just feel like I'm playing Psychopath Simulator 2013 instead of a proper survival game.

Posted by Murdoc_

@mr_creeper: Yeah me too. A day z that doesn't control like hot garbage would have get me in.

Posted by 014

Bad trailer, but I'm already more interested than DayZ just because of the potential money behind it. Maybe that sounds horrible, but you know what? Every time I watch DayZ on Twitch, I see two things consistently:

1 They are running.

2 Animations are completely horrible and the graphics don't help.

Posted by exfate

The real exciting thing about this is that it's the same engine as PlanetSide 2, which means a much larger player count and much larger, interesting maps than DayZ could ever come close to.

They've been clear that you won't be able to buy an advantage in this game with real money. I'm interested as long as they keep the promise of not having a gross F2P model. They're doing a 12 hour stream today. This morning they let twitter decide which feature to start, and they're going to have it implemented by the end of the day (buildable barriers). If they continue to be this open about the game's development and taking input from their subreddit, it could be interesting.

They're basically taking huge dumps on the slow progress of Rust and DayZ, and they just announced the game a couple weeks ago. They have a decent-sized team compared to those other games (I think). I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope this isn't the sandbox mmo they were teasing for fans of SWG. If it is, fuck you Smedley. I'm over zombies.

Posted by ThatOneDudeNick

There are plenty of themes. I'm still cool with zombies in some games. Especially if the zombies are a real threat for a change.

Is this what Jack Trenton is doing now?!!!!!! IS IT!! What the fuck yo!? Also my friend told me this game is totally broken

Posted by NeoZeon

I'm down to at least give it a shot before dismissing it. It is free to try after all.

That said though...

Can we, as a species and an overall sane populace, finally admit that we would never, EVER, go into a damn cemetery when zombies are around? It's like a required stereotype in media at this point...

As long as people can still verbally insult me while beating up my unconscious body then I am in.

I have less of a problem with the lack of it being a survival game and more the fact that everything about it is literally broken. Granted, I haven't played the mod in nearly a year and haven't ever played standalone, but things like items not dropping properly, laggy and inconsistent zombies, an unreasonably low framerate, constant server restarts, a nonsensical and impossible to manage inventory and the potential to get killed by a closing door means that even in ideal conditions DayZ is barely playable.

I'm theoretically okay with getting sniped by another player who's being an asshole, but I'm less cool with having my legs broken by a zombie who punched me from the far side of a concrete wall and then crawling for three miles to find morphine that may or may not spawn depending on how borked the server is at that particular moment.

I didn't play all that much, but I didn't really run into many of those issues when playing the mod or the standalone. I just really want a good survival game. Zombie-themed is just fine, focus on gathering resources and, hopefully, cooperating with others. We can all dream, right..?

Oddly enough, that's exactly what I was expecting to happen. I felt a simple zombie jump scare was way too simple and predictable for them to cap their trailer it with so it would have to be something even slightly more interesting.

I had zero interest in the game before the trailer. Now that interest may have gone in the negatives.

Posted by leagueofsebastian

@paradoxcontrol I agree. That was without a doubt, the worst trailer I've ever seen. They failed to show any real gameplay. Really, they failed to show us anything about the game at all. Other than the fact that it contains zombies, which is a negative point in my book considering the overuse of zombies recently.

Posted by JayDubya

What company lets their interns make the trailer?

Posted by BreakfastKing

Terrible trailer, but also the first time I've seen a subreddit promoted in an official game trailer. Weird.

that looks fucking awful
