Seems to me that they're back in the same mindset that produced 7 and 8. 12 was a disastrous disappointment of a game, and thankfully this looks like the polar opposite.  Couldn't understand a word of it of course. But, it's better that way: it'll be more interesting and surprising to play. It did what I needed it to; to get me excited about who these characters are, how they're ...

  • Wow Jeff, really? Why must there be a girls version? That would be political correctness gone mad.  I wouldn't be surprised if eventually someone makes enough of a fuss (there have been small campaigns before) about it to get the slogan removed or a girls version released. :-(

  • Well, if they're remaking it I'd rather it be American than British. Modern TV here in the UK is pretty terrible. But hey, its still got a little bit of Brit in it with Sir Ian. :)

  • The phrase that "nice guys finish last" is nonsense. Life is not a competition or a race, there is no first and last. What the phrase really means is not to let people walk all over you or take advantage of you. You don't became any less of a good person for standing up to the bad people in life.  I'm not a Christian, but I was raised Catholic. Anyway, for ...

How many games have they ...

  • Frankly, I'm amazed someone put what must have been a lot of time and effort into what amounts to a joke. Obviously the work of a person that is both crazy and awesome at the same time.

  • PSN import shop sounds great. I'm sure there are going to be even more games down the road that don't want to risk full localisation and retail distribution, or even games that struggle to find a publisher. I just hope they don't forget that UK/European gamers like them some Japanese games too! Them selling PS2 games is fine. I still have a PS2. Sure, I'd rather get rid of it and ...

  • exfate commented on Brad's editorial review Scribblenauts
Great review Brad, very honest and scored correctly at the just over middle of the scale.   Every other review I've read points out all these problems and suggests that in many ways they break the game, yet the scores are really high. I think this is a game where the hype is way bigger than the end product, which is average in every respect other than its concept. So ...

  • Really looking forward to this. Shame it doesn't have a European publisher yet though. Looks like I might have to import if it doesn't get one by the end of the year. It's a shame too, because it looks so much like a European RPG with a Japanese twist -- I bet it'd do particularly well on the continent.

  • exfate replied to the topic Post your RPG Completion list
The RPG is a poorly defined genre of games. There is no way to boil it down to any set of criteria that; a. fits all games commonly known to be RPGs, and; b. doesn't include games that are not commonly considered RPGs.  In the strictest sense, an RPG would require that you play a role. Note that playing a role is very different from controlling a character, it requires ...

  • There is no reason for this to slip past Spring 2010, which is the current target. According to Squenix the only things left to do for the US release is the lip synch and completion of the 360 port (which is well along).  Just think, by this time next year XIII will be old news and people will be eager to see what's in store for XV.

  • Hard to believe Bioware made this. Terrible voice acting, terrible writing, terrible animation, terrible music.  Maybe it's actually a parody of crappy fantasy fiction/games? Anyway, I would definitely like this to be the game for Endurance Run 2.0.

  • @watertails: If for some reason he couldn't make use of the key, or just didn't want to, then he could have done a few things. He could offer it to the other guys, give it to a friend, or just accept it graciously and forget about it.

  • Bob was doing something cool for a Giant Bomb fan when he gave Oliver his business card and a promise of the beta key. It's a pretty dick move to throw it back in his face by selling it, even more so before he has it. Profiteering off of someone's good nature is just lame, and there's a whole world of difference between that and selling a key that you ...

  • @bshirk: I agree with you about IGN, they're a pretty big offender. A quick skim of a few JRPG reviews there reveals the same type of comments in reviews of Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean 4, and Tales of Vesperia. They're scored higher and generally more positive, but they still have several jibes at the JRPG-ness.IGN must have some kind of style guide that says something along the lines of, "When ...

I find the entire concept of playing something "on the go" to be pretty absurd. Perhaps it's the types of games I like to play? But, I struggle to enjoy holding a small device and looking at a small screen no matter if it's a handheld screen or a phone screen. If I could be sat at home in front of a PC or my TV playing better games for longer periods of time in a comfortable environment... need I say more?

When I'm not at home, the last thing I want to do is play games. Sure, there is going to be down time that you could fill with gaming no matter what you're doing or where you are. It just seems weird to me to do that though. It's like people who carry books around with them everywhere and read a few pages during lunch or on the train/bus - those people are crazy.

Essentially, phone games are doing things for the sake of doing things when you have nothing better to do.
