My only problem with the Witcher games/books, is that after playing/reading them I find it hard to enjoy any other fantasy series other than Game of Thrones. I found Dragon Age and Skyrim to pale so much in comparison that I almost couldn't take them seriously in a post-Witcher world.

I still can't get through the Witcher 1, I just give up on the swamp every time. I really want to get into this series looking at this though.

I enjoyed the first game, but honestly you don't need to play it to play the second. They are completely different games as far as gameplay goes anyway

I recommend not playing the first game as your first in the series. If you like the lore & world enough once you've played Witcher 2, feel free to go back. I give the same advice about the Mass Effect series: the first game in both series don't hold up at all and are, mechanically speaking, the opposite of fun.

i can't get past how Witcher 2 flows, i hate the way the avatar controls - too fast a run, too slow a walk, and a poor transition between the two, also the pacing between cut-scenes and action i find jarring and difficult to get into, this clunkiness seems to apply to other aspects of the game too, like menus and tutorials, so I'm wondering if it's something CDProjekt are likely to change?

maybe not, but i hope so, because i'd like to play this.

The Witcher 2 is really good. I played it on the 360 and I completed both paths. It's amazing that such huge parts of the story can be missed by only experiencing a single path. You are literally closed off from 1/3 of the content (all unique story content) by only playing the game once.

OH DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT!!! If true the rest of us who have lower tier cards are also screwed. ;_;

It's okay though I bet it'll be fine. TW2 scaled really well with lower end hardware.

I played Witcher 1 years after it got released and it was a year before TW2 and I'm glad that I did it in that fashion. If I played TW2 first I doubt I'll go back to playing TW1.

The graphics alone could've made this a great trailer but the amazing voice-acting and music made it damn near perfect. They basically sold me the game now.

As long as they do a better job casting the child voices."I'M A WITCHA!!" ugh. This would have been the arrow to the knee meme if more people had played the Witcher 2.

I should complete Roche's path shouldn't I? I had ambitions to S rank that game at some point. Some of those achievements are pretty nasty though.

I really hope the combat is actually good this time. If they could do that, and make a better crafting/farming system this could be a epic game. I really want to have to explore the world to make some of the items.

The guy who said "no man who meets the hunt returns to this world" was the liar not Geralt.

But the only time he ever uses both at once is during special takedown attacks that happen randomly and also almost never!

This reminded me that I still haven't gone back and replayed the Witcher 2 since the PC version got patched to the Enhanced Edition. My backlog was long enough as it was...

He didn't mean dual wielding 2 swords. Just having 2 sword swords strapped to your back at all times makes you more of a badass.

Besides, the silver sword doesn't work only because it's a videogame and wear and tear on your weapons would be tedious to manage. The good reason to use a iron or steel sword agains humans is because silver is a shity metal for making tools so swords made out of silver would tend to break if used agains chainmail or armor. So if you assume it's good agains monsters because MAGIC, then you use it agains monsters and use your regular sword to hit the other stuff.

I assume it has to do with the fact that Silver is a very malleable metal and kind of crappy to use as a weapon, especially against armored folks, due its tendency to dent and bend. Silver is often a good killer of supernatural creatures in many different lore's though, so it would be effective against supernatural creatures.

@liquidprince: @pyrodactyl: The issue I have with the "silver is too malleable" argument is that he uses that silver sword on all sorts of monsters with tough hides and even tough exoskeleton/shells. And if it's purely the fact that it's silver that does the damage, then I don't see why it would have to be a sword, and couldn't just be a metal bat or something.

I think I'm just over thinking the whole thing.

As I said, it works on monsters with hard skin and stuff because they're monsters and silver is good against those. You know, because of magic reasons.

I bought a cheap downloadable copy of 2 during an Xbla sale a while back. I think I need to get around to playing to before this.
