The best parts of both of these games were the Marine campaigns. The alien campaign in 2 is also pretty good as well.

I cannot wait to watch this! I never played them when they were current so this is an excellent excuse to take a look at them.

The first one was so much better! The second was just like a mushy shooter that lost the unique feeling for the different creatures.

When there's a guest, and the video itself is actually properly well produced, this is an enjoyable feature.

Good stuff Patrick, I especially like the feature when you get a guest to join you. Hoping you can do that every now and then in addition to the broadcasts from home.

AVP 2 is one of the greatest games ever and i think the best video game sequels ever i beat all three campaigns several times and i sank so many hours into the multiplayer because it was a lot of fun.

I beat all three campaigns of the most recent AVP game and i thought it was a lot of fun it's a shame no one else seems to like it.

Not to crap on Patrick, but I'm glad he or whoever else did it decided to record these in house rather than at his house on a janky XSplit connection. I appreciate the quality and another chance to watch a long video with Drew in it.

Really? I never played the first, but I LOVED the sequel.

I felt that the storytelling was top notch and I liked how different each of the species played.

Sounds like I missed out. I just recall the reviews of the day calling the first game too dark.

Patrick, I love you for doing this, but I got to say that videos like these would be a lot more enjoyable (to me at least) if you'd done just the tiniest amount of research on the games you pick or even just paid attention to the information the games give you onscreen - showing the games a bit of respect, I guess I mean. If you're going for immersion and getting into the proper atmosphere and getting SCARED, why do you rush into them?

Why do you skip any and all tutorial messages that tell you what you actually need to do, why do you not pay attention to the story (laughable as it may be in AvP, granted xD )? I'm getting a bit tired of "oh, I skipped that tutorial message too fast so now I don't know what I need to do"-mentality on Giant Bomb lately. On Quicklooks, alright fine, but this feature seems made for getting INTO these games, not just rushing to the next monster closet and missing half the controls.

And yes, I'm cranky because I looooove me some AvP and it hurts me to see you not play it to its fullest potential, also for your own sake - you're missing out, man. :D

Thanks guys, looking forward to the next episode of SwS!

: Have you ever played The Void ? I think it's something unusual worth checking out that you may find interesting, maybe not for a live show etc but I would be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

It's on Steam and has been in a few indie bundles this year.

Agreed. I liked the first AVP way better. The second game felt more like a standard shooter. It was brighter, the aliens were not as tough and not as fast etc. And the atmosphere was way better in the first game in my opinion. Still, AVP2 was good, too.

Further awesome things/random facts about the AVP1:

- you could shoot out every single light source. In MP, the map would be completely dark after a few minutes.

- the rocket/grenade launchers were freaking awesome with the dynamic explosion effects

- the vanilla game didn't let you save at all, they patched the feature in after release (with 3,4 or 5 saves per level depending on the difficulty level)

Don't bother with Hamachi guys, Tunngle does the job just as good and you don't have to do anything exept creating an account.

I really enjoy those spookin with scoops and i'm eager to see what you can come up with when you will have a formula and setup a little more clear. Just play around a little more with your options and controls (especialy) before or at the beginning of your streams.

You guys finished too early... about 1 minute more and the best part of the whole game happens when you are a chest burster and you have to bite out of a human's chest... through their beating heart.... Seriously the Alien campaign started in the best fashion ever and followed the evolution of an Alien which was fucking awesome...

If you didn't madly skip the intros you would have known you were a face hugger...

Alien campaigns for both 1 & 2 were my favourites, with marines a close second while Predator was the more conventional boring FPS style... AVP 1 was brutally hard as an alien, but super fun taking all the lights out etc.

Also I endlessly LANed the multiplayer for the first AVP on the defence maps as the coop game where you are marines holding off alien attacks.. I think the Bunker level (?) was the best by absolute far, as you would run to the bunker after falling down a huge slope (which if you fell correctly would net you a shotgun) and then try to hold off the attackers from all the openings in the ceilings/walls, and then bug out and decide to make a run for it to another area with more weapons... I think I played that map solely for hours and hours with buddies.
