Square Enix's New RPG Side-Scroller, Necromachina

Looks pretty solid to me, glad to see more SE stuff coming out on consoles, particularly via the respective networks.

Man, I'm all for sidescrollers, but god damn. I didn't think Square could come up with a cast of characters that were any less inspired than in some of the new final fantasy games.

The idea that it looks like a high res Strider and is four player is just full of win to me.

Looks like the creator of Strider is behind this one, which makes things even more interesting.

What an odd title for SE.  I'm not really into 2-D sidescrolling games, but one thing I really like about this is that the characters can combine to unleash a more powerful attack.  Too many of these games just have individuals running around doing the same thing but can't really interact with each other in any meaningful way.  Co-op should really be about doing things you can't otherwise perform solo, not just simply having another character on the screen.

The video just does not do anything for me, but I will reserve judgement until I can actually see how it plays for myself.

It's nice to see a 4-player game that isn't aimed toward the casual market.

Meh, Symphony of the night meets Contra meets Castle Crashers, would rather have a nice HD remake of Symphony or a sequel... but its Square i know... Hope its more metroid-vania than straight side scroller, at least its multiplayer on the same console that's a plus. Also where the hell is PSN Castle Crashers?????

Still would rather tehm just release original strider on XBLA as this might be good in parts but limited screen size & 4 player strider co-op seems a little crowded. At least they learned what not to do with 4 player co-op as what was done on the latest super mario game (non-galaxy).

Those guys have some expensive looking clothing for the apocalypse.

While the combat looks decent and the movement seems fluid, I think the level design may need some work judging by the trailer. None of the platforming looked all that interesting or challenging and for the most part it seemed like they only had to deal with one or two enemies at a time aside from a handful of moments. Basically, the combat looks like it could be fun but may be bogged down by dull level design.

Hate to jump on the hater bandwagon here, but I'm not feeling this. The action looks boring and the art design is really awful. I'm glad to see some games aiming for modern versions of old game mechanics, but this one kind of misses the mark I'm afraid.

I try not to judge a game with so little information, but this game. :/
