One of the best, my ps1 copy still works great! And I'm still holding out for the FFX/X-2 HD Collection!

The PS1 FF tier list is:

S+: FF tactics

A: FF7

B: FF9

C: FF8

I take exception to that. Final Fantasies 4 5 and 6 were great.

I'm pretty sure 6 ended up getting a rerelease on the PS1. So there's that.

8 was the first game I can remember looking forward to before it was out. I had bought 7 a year after release in 98 and loved it so much I could not wait for 8. Even if I never loved it as much as 7 it still was a great experience and 13 year old me spent a lot of time after school with that game.

Final Fantasy VIII is the best Final Fantasy. Suck it, haters.

This game was so bad I stopped playing RPGs for like 6 years. That's crazy talk. Having played IX late this summer, I've really gotta say that's the best Final Fantasy.

Since Tactics isn't part of the main series. FFIX & VI for my vote.

I played FFVIII for the first time this year and generally enjoyed it. The story is so incredibly, absurdly ANIME that I couldn't help but love all its dumb goofiness. (I don't really buy the theory du jour regarding the plot.) And I generally had a good time with the battle system even though it's so easy to game that even a dumb knucklehead like me can break it. (I can only imagine how much of a cakewalk this game is for people who actually know what they are doing.)

Patrick, you're a terrible person and so is anyone that likes FFVIII. Ridiculous busywork and levelling system aside, the story is so incredibly dull.

It's alright though, I forgive you.

Death is unfortunately not in that list, but oh well. I guess you can't have everything.

8 was fine but I don't think you could really make a case for it being better than 7. And certainly not 9.

I've played through Final Fantasy VIII nearly 10 times, but this is possibly the most incoherent trailer I've ever seen. If you watch this knowing nothing about Final Fantasy VIII then you'll end up knowing less about it by the time it's finished.

While i cant agree that FF VIII is the best i still think for nostalgia bias FF VII gets my vote. It is still a damn good FF and had such an ambitious world along with triple triad being amazing.

Maybe I have a slight curiosity, since I never played it and know nothing about it.

The only FF game I finished is VII, I played IV and VI, but managed to fuck my saves about 12 hours in on both those games, so I stopped playing, all these games are such a huge time commitment, I could finish 2 games by the time I finish one FF game.

edit: Oh, and I finished FFVII like 2 years ago, cause I had to know if it's as good as they say. I liked it.

The first 2 discs were pretty solid, but then it got incredibly stupid with the time travel, crying moon orphanage bullshit.

Still enjoyed it though and its still a million times better than that XIII garbage.

Yeah, FF8 was ok but the story was a mess and suffered from trying too hard to be cool and emotional. It was FF90210 (it was topical when the game came out :V ) starring Gackt. The gameplay was pretty good, but also really, really weird. I'm definitely in the 'FF9 was the best PS1 game' group.

Yeah, but you should have stopped drawing as soon as you realized that the GFs could refine items into spells and save you dozens of hours of punching yourself in the dick.

Best FF for the PS1 was the FF anthology where they ported over FF 6....then FF 9.
