Lang and and Adam, the creator, have explained this very thing on numerous occasions. Jeff has also explained it quite a few times as well.

It started off as a joke and, on the surface, still is. However, it turned out to be crazy fun and people were drawn to it. The point of the game is essentially about throwing out all the baggage that comes with fighting games. The combos, matchups, counters, and all that other stuff that pretty much makes it impossible to pick up and play without an immense amount of time and effort.

It distills fighting games down to it's most basic concepts and makes it all about the mindgames. There's still quite a surprising amount of depth to the game, but it's infinitely more approachable than almost any other fighting game.

I'm starting to believe that this not being greenlit yet is part of the joke somehow. Valve and Iron Galaxy are secretly working together and will unveil that this is actually Half-life 3 in a couple of months.

They need to put Maximilian aka Miles923. Duder has done a lot for the fighting game community with a bunch of fighting game vids on Youtube.

This game could be cool but I think the artwork for it is kind of crumby.

@d_w: I think Kenny is better compared to Mokujin seeing as he does not have his own moveset (other than specials) and that he can only use other fighters techniques.

It's been pointed out who he is by now but I'd just like to add that he says "PRECISION!" during his second kick. He can only use his second kick during his character-unique super mode "upkick mode" that he activates by finding all three parts of his divekick precision enhancing invention, the "kickbox".

Kenny is sort of like the game's Shang Tsung. Each round he copies the movement and basic attacks from one of the other characters. It's randomized and you don't know who he copies until you move. He has his own unique specials though. It's a projectile that freezes his opponent for a couple of seconds. The air version is homing.

He's origin is pretty touching too. He was one of kickstarter reward characters (the other being the Baz,) The backers younger brother, Kenny, had passed away but was a huge fan of playing random select in fighting games. So they basically put his brother into the game. Hence the halo.
