The Next Great Trailer in the Saints Row Franchise Has Arrived

Totally onboard - Saints Row 3 was one of the most enjoyable games I've played in years.

I think this makes sense, and not rushed. If they were already deep into the expansion that then turned into a full game, it makes sense for them and Koch Media to put this out. With Metro, Dead Island Riptide and this all coming out this year, Deep Silver has a good chance to recoup all the money they spent for the studio's. And then they can have the studio's start fresh on the new consoles for releases late next year. Maybe have Volition revisit Red Faction or use that tech for a new franchise.

Also to all the people talking about the Hot Dog suit, that suit has been in Saint's Row games before, and started in SR2. Might have shown up in the original but I can't remember for sure.

im sick of the fanboys saying this will be better then gta v and vice versa. i will be enjoying both of these games hopefully they have improved some stuff in sr4

SR3 didn't really do it for me. I spent a mediocre 8 hours with it and uninstalled it. This looks like more of that, except with less novelty.

Yeah, I do have every right to "bitch" about this. This isn´t a half bankrupt publisher trying to survive by basically turning an addon into a full fledged game. This is a (shady) new publisher trying to cash in on the license as quickly as possible.

They could have at least given them more time to flesh things out. Well, maybe that wasn´t possible because of new consoles and whatever.. maybe this game will turn out to be okay, but I really don´t know at this point. The trailer looks like a marginally different Saints Row 3.

lol. The league of rehashing a decade old formula with some of the most tired mechanics and "satire"? The most interesting thing about Rockstar games are the trailers they intentionally weave to lull folk into believing this one will be feature dynamic new gameplay and different missions when it never, ever is.

Well, GTA 5's vehicle stealth missions will probably a league above Saints Row's... XD

I enjoy Saints Row and GTA, I must be crazy. Why do so many people need to pledge their allegiance to only one series and then violently hate the other one?

@superfriend: Yes, because clearly a bunch of half second cuts in a video, compared to an equally sparse amount of info about some mystical expansion, clearly shows everything that the game is and will ever be, for all eternity.

Looks like complete garbage, Saints Row 2 was the height of the series, while Saints Row 3 took the zaniness too far but was fun. Guess it was going to be all down hill from there.

While I loved SR3 I kind of wanted something a bit more like SR2 than something even more crazy. Doesn't seem to be much left of the gangsta mentality left. But if it is as good as SR3 I can't complain.

I'm skeptical as well, but not because I think this is a rush job. My fear is they will have taken all the praise they got for the craziness of SR3 and push it so far to it's limit that it wraps back around to being really awful. I want the game to be great, I'm just afraid they will go for crazy at all costs rather than crazy with purpose and it will fall flat because of it (See: the love guru, that Eminem album where he did stupid accents most of the time, The Happening)

You know how some types of movies always win Oscars even though they are boring and predictable? And other great movies and directors never win Oscars no matter how exciting and innovative they are?

But you can have your "open world" game where there's no activities to do except drive your annoying cousin around a giant sterile map, and I'll have my game which is actually fun.

More time to "flesh things out" would still result in a game that looked like SR3. Sounds like what you want is a new game in a new engine, and that will take them at least another three years. I'm perfectly happy to play what they were already working on in the meantime.

@jimmyfenix: There's reinventing and then there's keeping things interesting and fresh. Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs have done far more in the past decade to keep the genre alive then ANOTHER one of those GTA games. Rockstar should be thankful that companies like Volition are innovating and reinvigorating the genre that would have dried out completely had it solely been left up to Rockstar and their stale efforts.

YES! YES! YES! My PC is locked and loaded for this. Plus it comes out this summer. I really enjoy when games get announced just a few months before they are released. The Bioshock Infinite method makes it very hard to keep interest sustained until the game releases.

As someone who still hasn't gotten around to playing my copy of the third one, I hope this isn't just Saint's Row III: Part 2. That seems to be the criticism people had of the previous game's DLC.
