Good trailer, and 'tis great to see Ashley. One of the best and most realistic characters in the franchise IMO. Major lols at people who call her a "Space Racist".

I think the Reapers are only focusing on Earth in order to remove Ashley from existence and restore the universe to the way it should be.

People talk about the peripheral nonsense like DLC weapons and skins, Origin and EA BEING EVIL (OMG) and I just don't think these will really affect the core game at all. It's going to be great; I'm going to love every minute of it; people who feel like being super cynical just hate Joy and Happiness.

But again - I would have said the same thing about Dragon Age 2 before it came out. I loved the hell out of DA Origins, and even the expansion, Awakening. I pre-ordered DA2 as soon as possible, upgraded my PC to play it at the best settings, and even made sure I had a couple of days off work to sink my teeth into it, because I was so sure it was going to be great, and I was "going to love every minute of it".

And I don't think EA are "evil", but I do think being owned by a major publisher like them, can re-shift a studio's priorities. Before EA bought them, I don't think they would have rushed out DA2 in a year, for example. Before EA, I don't think we'd be reading about all of this multiplayer and iPhone tie-in game nonsense.

That is what makes me worried, despite my excitement and love for the previous ME games. The trailers and gameplay video I've seen looks fine, but then, so did the DA2 stuff. It's real problems (endlessly reused areas and a bunk story, for two), weren't apparent from videos, or the demo.

I don't think voicing these rational and reasonable concerns makes me an alarmist hater. I'm not betting against the house here - I want this game to live up to my expectations.

You have a valid point about DA2's problems not being apparent from pre-release footage. Everybody was harping on 'A for awesome' and 'shit mountain' when the real problems were as you described. What gives me hope for ME3 is that it is a different team. If you look back before DA2 to the DLC for DA:O and ME2 the gap in quality between the Dragon Age team and the Mass Effect team are apparent. Compare Witch Hunt to Lair of the Shadowbroker which came out on the same day. The reality is that the Dragon Age team has put out one good game, DA:O, and a bunch of mediocre to poor content since. The Mass Effect team, while not perfect, has a much better record.

@Dredlockz I've always entered into ME games reluctantly but enjoyed the over all experience. I think there nice games but overly glamourized. I don't think I ever cared that much for most the characters.

What's up with all these kids flying fake spaceships in their media for ME3? This trailer has it and the demo has it. Two different kids.

Aside from the creepy little girl it's not a bad CG trailer. Not a fan of CG Ashley though, she looks better in the demo.

@Scotto: I fail to get how one less then stellar game can have such an impact on the view of the developer as a whole. I've been seeing this for weeks now "Oh I wish I could like this but DA2 was so bad!" Really guys? Have you seen Bioware's track record? So DA2 was a flop, how about all the other great games they've made? Have gamers really become so jaded that one flop, and not even a major flop, ruins their entire reputation?

Get a grip dude. I said I loved the ME series and was really excited to play this one. I've got the N7 Edition all pre-ordered and ready to go.

Yes, I have seen Bioware's track record, and it was spotless up until DA2 (or the goofy final boss in ME2, if you want to be technical). Their only other big game since then (SWTOR) has also been a bit "meh" in terms of critical reception.

When I take that into account, along with the increasing encroachment of unnecessary peripheral nonsense into their marketing of this game, it leaves me worried. That is all I said, and I hope my worries are unfounded.

There was a time when Bioware could do no wrong in my eyes, but that perception was thoroughly shattered by DA2. Don't extrapolate that simple premise to the moon and back.

The marketing for the Mass Effect games has always been a mess, especially since ME2. Releasing a demo in which some dialogue is cut out and high res textures are missing (PC version)? C´mon Bioware, what´s up with that?

To be fair I think that SWTOR is pretty good and I like the story better than the DA2 one which is kinda crazy considering that SWTOR is a MMO (with a less than great MMO part I personally don´t give a shit about).

This trailer is...also kinda meh. The thing with all the husks is pretty stupid in my opinion but I always hated that enemy type. Also the reapers are giant fucking machines with huge lasers and shit so why even bother with those husks? Nevertheless I am looking forward to the extended cut.

Oh and one more thing: ME3 is gonna be dope. Sure, I am a little bit worried (still got the N7 edition preordered) but I had absolutely NO interest in ME2 at all when it came out and now it´s one of my favourite games of all time. I´m optimistic they get it right this time too.

I didn't even realise that was Ashley because she is totally dead. This is pretty much what I thought when I found out it was her though.

People arguing she's not a space racist: I'm pretty sure it mainly comes from her killing Wrex in the first game (that is if you played the first game wrong... )

As far as I'm aware, ME3 has had about twice the development time of DA2 and is made by a completely different development team, i.e. the guys who made ME2, my favourite game of all time.

I'm not really worried and I don't think you should be either :)

Reading these comments, the sheer amount of negativity I've seen directed against this game for no apparent reason is just insane. I've seen nothing so far that makes this game look in any way worse than ME2 and it looks damn right awesome. People talk about the peripheral nonsense like DLC weapons and skins, Origin and EA BEING EVIL (OMG) and I just don't think these will really affect the core game at all.

But she isn't. Not trusting alien species in a highly advanced prototype human warship is not the same a hating all aliens for no reason. The fact that she thinks the Terra Firma party is extreme should say something about her. She isn't a racist. Like, at all. If anything, Pressley was the space racist. Kaidan didn't trust the council too, does that make him racist? Ashley is the most developed character in the first game.

Its going to be that Modern Warfare 2 boycott list all over again, these guys are going to buy Mass Effect 3 anyway and be playing it. I dare say they'll probably enjoy it.
